WASHINGTON, Sept 6 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said India and Russia seem to have been "lost" to China after their leaders met with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week, expressing his annoyance at New Delhi and Moscow as Beijing pushes a new world order.

"Looks like we've lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest, China. May they have a long and prosperous future together!" Trump wrote in a social media post accompanying a photo of the three leaders together at Xi's summit in China.

Later on Friday, however, he told reporters he didn't think the U.S. had lost India to China.
"I don't think we have," he said. "I've been very disappointed that India would be buying so much oil, as you know, from Russia. And I let them know that."

Asked about Trump's social media post, India's foreign ministry told reporters in New Delhi that it had no comment. The Chinese foreign ministry did not immediately reply to a request for comment and representatives for the Kremlin could not be immediately reached.

Xi hosted more than 20 leaders of non-Western countries for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the Chinese port city of Tianjin, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Putin and Modi were seen holding hands at the summit as they walked toward Xi before all three men stood side by side.

"I'll always be friends with Modi," Trump told reporters on Friday. "He's a great prime minister. He's great. I'll always...

Good! Been saying for years, the country that is one big tech support scam is India. We need to expel all the H1Bs and wick this country of the curry smell. They are actually worse than the Chinese or Russia.

Color me shocked as you blame Trump for something. Still waiting for you to post something supportive but know better than to hold my breath.

I should have said Indian-American citizens to emphasize my point.  I was not talking about H1B visas.

When I was an industry analyst following the telecom-industry-serving software business, a few of the successful leaders of that industry sector were Indian-American citizens.

Re: "India buys it for the cap of $60..."

Not what I was referring to.

Putin is selling millions of barrels at below $60 to Indian corporations and billionaires, who then split the retail profit with the Indian government.

Both CNBC and the Wall Street Journal have covered that story.

Re: "The Indian PM left before the military parade."

So, Modi flew all the way to China to get five minutes of bizarre hand holding photo-op with Xi and Putin?

First time I have heard that story.

Re: "In 1965, America turned against India..."

More accurate - the USA turned against hard core Socialist Indira Gandhi.

More accurate - the USA turned against hard core Socialist Indira Gandhi.

Indira Gandhi became PM in 1966. Paki being a member of SEATO and CENTO got them the pick of US equipment. The US knew who it would be used against. Till JFK was around, the US hadn't turned against India because India facilitated CIA ops against China.
