42-year-old Texas man is facing a murder charge in the shooting of an 11-year-old boy after the victim and his friends banged on the suspect's door late Saturday night in what police described as a "ding-dong-ditch" prank that has been trending on TikTok and other social media platforms, authorities said.
The suspect, Leon Gonzalo Jr., was arrested and booked at the Harris County Jail on Tuesday morning, charged with one count of murder, according to Harris County court records.

Based only on what is contained in the article, which may or may not be accurate, he will be convicted. There has to be a threat to use legally use deadly force. If the kid was already running away, no longer a legal defense. Again, based entirely on whats presented in the article.

Thats a bit extreme. I mean, pelting with garbage? Let's just limit it to rocks and rotten fruit and vegetables. The rocks can be re-used and the fruit and veg can be cleaned up and placed in a compost pile to grow more fruit and veg for pelting.

It appears that he chased the kid beyond his property, down the street and then shot the kid in the back.
Lots of time for him the think about it, and lots of time to see that it was a kid, who was unarmed and not a threat.
Yup, kid was shot in the back.
Also, kid didn't ring the doorbell, but was kicking the door, as in an attempted break in.
The victim and at least two of his friends had been going around their neighborhood banging on or kicking doors and running away, Cass said. Cass said the preliminary information indicates that the victims and his friends ran down the street after banging on the suspect's door.
I seem to recall kids playing this prank in my neighborhood back in the 50s and 60s. I realize it was a very different time, but nobody would ever have thought of shooting at them...
