Queen Elizabeth II had opinions on all sorts of subjects; it was just that she chose not to share them. Or, more accurately, she did sometimes share them, but those who heard were usually too discreet to repeat them. As George Osborne says, “I was constantly astonished by how candid she was and that none of this ever came out. She’d be very forthright in telling you what she thought of individuals, including members of her own family, and what she thought about things going on in the country.”
Another politician tells how the Queen once mentioned over drinks that she was due to see Pakistan’s General Musharraf, who would later be found guilty of violating the country’s constitution and sentenced to death in absentia. “Isn’t he just a crook?” she said. “Isn’t he just completely corrupt?” The group she was talking to were lost for words at this, so one of them turned the conversation to horse racing and asked whether she watched the Channel 4 preview programme The Morning Line. She said,“I really like the Channel 4 coverage in the afternoon, and I always like to watch it when my horses are running, but The Morning Line? I can’t watch it. I can’t stand that man John McCririck.”

I find the timing of the gossip interesting.
You have to think of the people around royalty as being guardians of the dignity of the throne, regardless of who is the monarch.
I enjoyed “King Ralph” with John Goodman.
Inbreeding.
I bet Queen Elizabeth played billiards and chewed tobacco ( sarc.).
She definitely smoked cigars at one point.
Rule Britannia ( sarc.)
One of her failures is that she failed to protect the Kingdom from Demographic invasion from previous British colonies.
Try and find a plain fish and chips stand in Blighty , they all serve curried fish now. Traditional Britain is no more.
She has been portrayed as being “ the guardian of the dignity of the throne”, and I think she tried her best to be that .
I find it fascinating that the American public has such high regard for the British monarchy. Didn’t we once fight a war to rid ourselves of such trash??
When Charles III dies, and William becomes king, I hope he declares a crusade and calls upon the British people to cleanse the isles of all Muslims. But it seems unlikely to happen.
I did a DuckDuckGo search on "The Times UK" and found the following in Wikipedia:
"The Times is a British daily national newspaper based in London. It began in 1785 under the title The Daily Universal Register, adopting its current name on 1 January 1788. The Times and its sister paper The Sunday Times are published by Times Newspapers, since 1981 a subsidiary of News UK, in turn wholly owned by News Corp."
BINGO! News Corp owns The Times UK.
Where have we heard of them before? Oh yeah, they also own Fox News.
Case closed.
I'll say. 96 years. That's a good run.
Thanks
It does not make any sense to me that the Royal family cannot be “political”. How can you exercise your duty as a monarch without taking a position on issues that impact your country?
The King is the King.
The King decrees.
The Parlament turns the decree into politics
I don’t think it is that simple anymore. Especially since the Royal Family gets an “allowance” from Parliment.
Well, England has long forgotten what a king is supposed to be.
Queen came up to him and said, “Will you tell President Obama it’s time to go to bed?” Osborne recalls, “I could see Obama surrounded by this big crowd. Am I supposed to go and tell him to go to bed?
Lol. Funny. I’m sure Obama put his nose up and said nobody tells me what to do. The Queen does! Lol.
This is complete nonsense... The only person who knew Queen Elizabeth’s views on anything... Was the Queen herself. She stayed out of politics and that’s what a good monarch does... She knew to keep her opinions to herself. She met with many Prime Ministers... Some she liked, some she didn’t... But which ones she preferred was always known to her and her alone. So anybody out there claiming that they knew what QEII as thinking... Is full of sh*te!
The Brits grabbed onto Indian food ages ago. Before Queen Elizabeth was even born. That IS traditional Britain.
