Pakistan’s top general has set off alarm bells with an unprecedented warning—delivered not in Islamabad, but from Tampa, Florida. Speaking at a private dinner, Army Chief Gen Asim Munir said, "We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us."

According to reports, this marks the first known instance of a nuclear threat being issued from American soil against another nation. The remarks came during a function hosted by businessman Adnan Asad, Tampa’s honorary consul, where around 120 guests of Pakistani origin were present. Security at the gathering was tight—cellphones and other digital devices were banned. A representative from the Israel Defence Forces was also said to be in attendance.

Munir also lashed out at India over the Indus Waters Treaty, accusing New Delhi of endangering food supplies for 250 million people after putting the pact "in abeyance" following April’s Pahalgam terror attack. The general also turned his attention to Pakistan’s recent four-day conflict with India, questioning why New Delhi has not disclosed its losses. “The Indians should accept their losses... Sportsman spirit is a virtue,” Munir said, adding that Pakistan would reveal its own toll if India reciprocated.

Oh, this is not meaningless saber rattling.

These guys have nuclear weapons of size considerably greater than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They are also west of India, and the prevailing winds are out of the West.

He can take half the world down with him. It all has to do with airbursts versus ground bursts. They have serious yields in their warheads and all he has to do is program them for a groundburst or three or 12 or 20 or 50. 50 ground bursts at whatever they’ve got a few hundred kilotons, and yes that will take out half the world.

That radioactive dust is going to spread all across the planet at that particular latitude, which is Texas. We would be evacuating the Southern United States. There would be no choice. And that means loss of the Texas refinery complex and then we have starvation starting to creep in because there’s no fuel for the trucks.
