The brutal seizure and execution of the world’s most famous squirrel threatens to cost the State of New York a staggering eight-figure settlement.
Mark Longo and Daniela Bittner, the grieving owners of P’Nut and his raccoon sidekick, Fred, are seeking $10 million in damages for the death of their pets at the hands of investigators, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday in New York Court of Claims.
A swarm of cops and agents from the state Environmental Conservation and Health departments descended on the couple’s upstate Pine City animal sanctuary Oct. 30, where the animals were living inside Longo and Bittner’s home.

No money can restore life to the deceased victims of SWAT raids or other governmental overreach. The people ordering and participating in such acts need to feel real PAIN if only financial although judicious caning or the cat of nine tails does appeal for use.
Lock that, ugly inside and outside, Hochul woman up.
I’m an NYS taxpayer.
I hope the family wins, too.
And I pray to God the human cesspool that is state and local government in NYS receives an almighty flushing.
It wasn’t just the slaughter of Peanut and Fred.
Authorities terrorized the Largos for hours.
We still don’t know the real reason why.
I hope they win too against these power hungry evil statists.
You never found a jackboot you didn’t like to lick, correct.
Why did they seize him? Did I miss something?

I’m not nearly as pro-police as I once was. I suppose I am at best neutral. My point is that New York has a law on the books. It’s a bad law. But it’s something the state can legitimately use as an excuse at a civil trail.
Billthedrill said it best in his post #16. Which I agreed with in my post #18.
If you want to continue this discussion with me, fine. Maybe I’ll learn something. But I’m not interested in trading personal insults. So if that’s your thing, I believe I’ll pass.

The way police departments are now, who in their right mind would want to be a policeman these days?
That is how it has been since some cavemen somewhere had the original thought: “there needs to be some rules in this cave!”
Right. You’d have to be in your wrong mind...
It will be a trial by jury so NY State is going to lose to the squirrel lovers. They also killed their pet racoons. I see pet racoons all over you tube shorts. Look up cat vs racoon for some youtube fun
> The way police departments are now, who in their right mind would want to be a policeman these days? <
There are many videos on YouTube of bad cops abusing innocent citizens.
But there are also many videos of good cops getting all sorts of abuse from suspects. And they don’t lose their temper. I could never do it.
But you get nothing if someone lays you on a table and kills your unborn baby.
The officials who did it are not going to pay anything. One day they will retire to Florida or Tennessee to enjoy fat New York State pensions, while the taxpayers have to pay the judgment and their pensions.
you do realize that there are people, all over the country, whose pets have been shot in SWATing incidents, and trying to protect their property/masters from police, who may or may not have had a legit reason for even being there? This may bring some much needed attention to a standing problem in this country.
> you do realize that there are people, all over the country, whose pets have been shot in SWATing incidents <
Oh my goodness, yes. There are even instances (and not just a few) of cops shooting friendly dogs just for the hell of it.
