'Squeaky clean' presidential hopeful's shameful marriage secret blown wide open after 36 years. ( Roy Cooper )

Democrats have promoted Roy Cooper as a model of controversy-free leadership, but scrutiny of his past is raising new questions about his moral judgment.

...

The former North Carolina governor running for Senate had a 'secret' divorce and began dating his second wife while she was still married..

Roy Cooper, 68, is at the top of Democrat politics, and was even tipped to replace Joe Biden as a presidential candidate last year and was on the shortlist to be Kamala Harris's 2024 running mate.

But despite his decades-long prominent standing in the party, Cooper has kept his divorce, and the overlap with his second wife's own first marriage, under wraps – until now.

The revelation may come as a surprise for a 'squeaky clean' leader once described by left-leaning politics magazine The New Republic as 'the living, breathing antonym of controversy.'

Before his marriage to current wife Kristin, 69, Cooper was wed to his college sweetheart Georganne Rice, now 65.

But Rice says he ditched her for a career in politics, without warning.

'He was my orientation counselor when I was a freshman and started at [University of North Carolina] Chapel Hill,'

...

Former North Carolina governor and Senate candidate Roy Cooper secretly divorced his college sweetheart and began dating his second wife before she finalized her own divorce

...

'It's kind of crappy to sign up to run for office and then just come home and tell your wife and not discuss it. So, I can see why he might not want to talk about it.'

...

Cooper's marriage to his second wife was just as complicated.

Does this matter for Democrats? Or Republicans?

Cal Cunningham was going to beat Tillis in 2020 but he lost because the word got out regarding his extramarital affairs in October so Tillis lucked out to win reelection.

Successful good-looking fella. Add to it the gift-of gab democrats constantly work on and one cannot avoid temptation. So we have to take him out with this stuff? It’s good the public is down on the party.

It does. It seems both parties approve of it now.

3 out of our last 5 president were adulterers, with one undetermined.

Lap dog Cal, who had almost enuff cheating at the polls to beat Tillis? It should not have been as close as it was. Cal’s woodie woodpecker Cunningham news came out several months before the election. It was enough to sink him.

Go back to 2024 NC gubnard race where demonkkkraps got revenge and waited to the last few months to have CNN make an in-kind campaign contribution to Josh Stein. Mark Robinson, was going to take enuough black votes away (more than Trump) to make demonkkkrap cheating unsuccessful.

What is being done here is to get the news out early, so the voters can get used to Roy By Golly Cooper’s dirty laundry out there where they can pass it off as “old news”, “sins of his yutes” and anyway, it looks like FJB Curly Shuffle with Jill. He is in luv with his current wife. Better now than in Sept 2026.

The question to ask is: Why was this not general knowledge for a two-term gubnar until now? I think we know the answer.

‘He was my orientation counselor when I was a freshman...’

If you are an upperclassman and want to have first dibs on freshman girls, “orientation counselor” is a sweet gig.

Yes. Monogamous, faithful marriage use to be a big deal. The demonkkkraps still have a wing of unconscious voters who if they knew this, they would not come out an votes for Roy By Golly Cooper.

I remember the demonkkkraps, who promoted no fault divorce, free love, etc in the 1970s, went after Reagan in attempt to “peel off” those traditionalist who took marriage seriously. Jerry Falwell and the Moral majority blunted that. Ironically, no fault divorce started under Reagan in California.

The reality is with less people going to church, with divorce more common, throw in homo marriage and “no-problem-with-kids-born-everyday-out-of-wedlock, ... faithful marriage still counts, but for a less significant part of the voters for both parties. Less so for the demonkkkraps, but maybe enough that their cheating at the ballot box would be in peril. Get the news out earlier rather than later so people can get used to Roy, who reformed his life.

There’s nothing squeaky clean about Cooper. He doesn’t mind a bit lying and fighting dirty.
