Trump-Backed Michigan Senate Candidate Mike Rogers: Trump’s Tariffs Are Bringing Opportunities Back to Michigan
Breitbart ^ | 8/2/25 | Nick Gilbertson

Posted on 08/02/2025 5:07:24 PM PDT by CFW

Former U.S. Rep Mike Rogers(R-MI), the Trump-endorsed Republican Senate candidate for Michigan, told Sirius XM’s Breitbart-News Saturday that President Donald Trump’s tariffs are “absolutely” already having real results as manufacturing opportunities are returning to the Wolverine State.

Rogers keyed in on General Motors’ commitment to invest $4 billion in the United States, part of which will go to a facility in Michigan. He emphasized that it is “huge” that GM is bringing production back to Michigan.

“And by the way, when that happens, all these small, little manufacturers get more work. This is really good for a state like Michigan,” he said.

He then said that home appliance company Whirlpool is also bringing manufacturing back to America, while noting that America is beginning to gain access to overseas markets, which the U.S. had been previously shut out of due to tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers other nations put on the U.S.

Rogers, who said Michiganders are “absolutely” seeing results now from Trump’s policies, further noted that the man he spoke with, who is a metal fabricator, attributed the uptick in work to Trump’s tariffs.

“Matter of fact, the guy that’s putting on the second shift is a metal fabricator,” Rogers recounted. “I said, ‘Well, what do you attribute that to?’ And he said, ‘Oh, it’s tariffs completely.’ He said, ‘Once that was all announced, the automobile companies were calling me saying, Hey, we love your product. We were going to source this in China, but we would like to–can you do the work, because it will now be cheaper to build it in the United States?’ I mean, this is exactly what you want.”

Thank you very much and God bless you.

It appears that some are pleased with the tariffs and credit it with bringing in more jobs for mainstreet. That's what the Democrats don't like about the tariffs. If people have good paying jobs then they are less dependent on government.

Former Army, FBI agent, and member of Congress I believe. The man spent his adult life in government, but I have a feeling that he’s going to emerge from the primaries as the victor

He probably will, but he just did that and managed to lose into the Trump surge against Slotkin (D-CIA).

Prior to that John James managed to lose both chances at a Senate seat before retreating to win a House race.

Nothing personal about either James or Rogers but MiGOP really tries hard not to win. They’re in it for the country club retreats and the handshake deals and have a long track record of unsupport of candidates.

I don’t know much about him. Could be a great guy. But why did he get hired by CNN?

After retiring from the U.S. House, CNN hired Rogers as a national security commentator.[2] He was also executive producer of the CNN program Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies.[2]

I liked James when he ran for Debbie Stabenow’s seat, and later Gary Peters’s seat. I wish he would have held his ground and not conceded in 2020. I really lost respect for the guy in 2023 when he was defending his vote to raise the debt ceiling just before Memorial Day.

Rogers, I just don’t like him. Heard him on the Guy Gordon show in Oct 2020 talking about the Whitney kidnapping plot, and antigovernment sentiment. The man seems to want to be in government so that he can live a life separated from any ill consequences that may come from his vote or actions.

Michigan hasn’t had a good senator as long as most of us have been alive. This would be a great time to change that.

Yeah, I think by Christmas there’s going to be a lot of new factory jobs starting up. If interest rates drop it’s going to move even faster.

“new factory jobs starting up”

Good jobs .... high paying jobs
The kind of jobs that built a solid middle class America.
Jobs that support families
Home ownership
Futures

So if we could just put off blowing the planet up for a while..
that would be good... real good

Well their beotch of a Governor will immediately put an end to THAT! Progress is NOT allowed!

She doesn’t want people WORKING - she wants them on the Socialist Democrat Dole! *SPIT*

She’s been awfully quiet as of late. Remember when she was, ‘in the news’ every damn day during Covid-BS19?

The country clubbers are indeed a thing, at least here in GA, but at the grassroots, there are now a LOT of MAGA/Patriot/America First folks. We just need to keep up the involvement/enthusiasm. One more Trump term, and Trump alone, is not going to fix all that is broken. We need sustained effort for a decade and beyond.
