Sen. Thune Blocks Trump from Making Recess Appointments

As we were warned, Senator Thune is blocking President Trump from making recess appointments by conducting pro forma sessions. Is he really a Republican? We are seven months into Trump’s term, and he doesn’t have his judges and over a hundred of his key appointments.

McConnell went home early, and the die was cast.

What an absolute disgrace. Thune’s procedural games expose the swamp for what it is. They care about preserving their power and engaging in Senate gamesmanship while agencies are leaderless.

Thune wants something in exchange. The Swamp is as wide as it is deep...

No, the recess appointments expire at the end of the Senate session.

They wouldn’t have let him replace McConnell if he wasn’t a Deep Stater.

If i am a senator, i want power in the legislature. I expect the other voices in this three tenor fugue to do likewise, while i help the president, i will never serrender legislative power to another branch. Doesnt make me disloyal. Makes me relevant

They’re valid until the end of the current Congress, so end of 2026 until the new Congress is sworn in at the beginning of 2027

Congress has already surrendered power [to legislate] to the administrative state and has yet to assert its power towards the courts.

This is just long TDS.

I’m not sure I understand. The Senate can vote not to approve an appointment. But how can they take the right to make appointments away? By the Constitution, doesn’t the president nominate, and the Senate confirms? There is even an Appointments clause to the Constitution?

Thune needs to get a taste of passion from the MAGA rally throngs.

The South Dakota Republicans need to make his life a living hell.

Burn up all the GOP senators’ phone lines, and flood them with letters via snail=mail .

Call radio talk shows and raise holy hell on the internet.

Trump needs to go to Sioux Falls and Rapid City ASAP.

"Is he really a Republican?"

No, that question has already been answered multiple times in the past.

Trump needs to call him out and say either do your job and be in session or recess the congress.

Trump wrote on truth social to have a great vacation. Obviously, he’s cool with them leaving. Not everything is a conspiracy theory.

Then do your job. Don’t take a recess and say you’re not really taking a recess. That’s not disloyal to the President, it’s dishonest to the people.

What Trump needed to do, from my understanding, is get the house to vote for a recess then it wouldn’t matter what the Senate does because if they don’t agree the President can force them into recess.

I don’t like it but if these appointments go undone it’s just not that bad. It’s the lifetime judges that are important.
