It’s a year of rapid change, except when it comes to Trump’s approval numbers, AP-NORC polling finds

WASHINGTON (AP) — Eric Hildenbrand has noticed prices continue to rise this year, even with President Donald Trump in the White House. He doesn’t blame Trump, his choice for president in 2024, but says Gov. Gavin Newsom and other Democrats who control his home state, California, are at fault.

“You can’t compare California with the rest of the country,” said Hildenbrand, who is 76 and lives in San Diego. “I don’t know what’s going on in the rest of the country. It seems like prices are dropping. Things are getting better, but I don’t necessarily see it here.”

Voters like Hildenbrand, whose support of the Republican president is unwavering, help explain Trump’s polling numbers and how they have differed from other presidents’ polling trajectory in significant ways. An Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll conducted in March found that 42% of U.S. adults approved of Trump’s job performance. That is a lower rating than those of other recent presidents at the beginning of their second terms, including Democrat Barack Obama and Republican George W. Bush.

The most recent AP-NORC poll, from July, puts Trump at 40% approval. While that is not a meaningful change from March, there is some evidence that Trump’s support may be softening, at least on the margins. The July poll showed a slight decrease in approval of his handling of immigration since earlier in the year. Some other pollsters, such as Gallup, show a downward slide in overall approval since slightly earlier in his term, in January.

President Trump is reported to be down in the polls - the same polls that showed Harris winning.

I’m not impressed.

AP are such liars. We know his approval rating is much higher than 42%.

He’s been slandered and indicted and imprisoned all for nothing, so he’s basically bulletproof now

The Seattle Times (morning newspaper) has at least one negative front page story on Trump - EVERY DAY!

Almost every day, they have one national or international negative story, from a major news source, like NYT, AP, WaPo.

Several times a week, they have negative local news, with Trump mentioned in the the first paragraph, and often in the head line.

The Seattle Times has several reporters who are apparently funded, or subsidized, by external sources, that specialize in Hard Left issues like Climate, Israel, and Immigration.

The fact that this same Hard Left news reality is multiplied thousands of times across the USA, each day, is really, really depressing.

Sure you can. You can use it as the perfect example of what a democrat run utopia falls into while the rest of the real world prospers.

Never ever trust a poll that showed Kamala winning. Trumps approval is probably upper 40s which is just fine

Had lunch w some longtime friends today. It’s unbelievable how ignorant these old hags are, my wife included. They talk about the evil in this country and totally disregard what the left is doing.

AP is the main supplier for a local paper rag we get in the mail. The front page always has a major AP story that is pure unadulterated propaganda. This newspaper is roughly a tenth what it was 40 years ago. No one reads this crap in a red state. If it weren’t for the local news, obits, local sports and ads, this paper would be out of business.

In my neck of the woods, the old-line town newspaper only exits because it is the ‘paper of record’ and almost all legal announcements have to be published there. Every week, there’s a couple of pages.

I have zero belief in negative polling info on Trump. Based on everything I see, efforts by the Left to capitalize on Trump’s perceived failings have been completely ineffective. Their mass protests have fizzled out. Their media ratings are low and getting lower. Even in my personal life, those who have spent the last 8 years trashing Trump are largely silent and demoralized.
