Shooter's motives still unclear despite extensive investigation into the attack that nearly changed American history..
As the one-year mark nears since the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump, questions remain unanswered; notably, why did Thomas Matthew Crooks carry out the attack, and how did he get so close?
Despite the year's passage, the mystery endures surrounding the 20-year-old Pennsylvania native’s motivation. Fox News Digital spoke with two former federal officials about the lingering questions.
Former FBI agent John Nantz said Crooks did not fit the profile of a politically motivated extremist.

The breakdown on July 13 led to bipartisan calls for then-USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign. After her resignation, Ronald Rowe Jr., who was serving as the deputy director, was appointed as the acting director.
He held the position until Jan. 22, when Sean Curran, a veteran agent who had been part of Trump's protective detail during the assassination attempt, was appointed as the 28th director of the USSS.

Well, Mr. Nantz, maybe you guys should not consider "idealogues" as potential trigger-pullers, but rather the virus that infects mentally unstable people, like Crooks? How many times have we seen violence perpetrated by an individual who has no coherent political views?

Yearly’s mother’s white Arizona-tagged van was towed from the scene that evening.

There is still the early report that this boy had had some contact with a retired CIA man some months before his act which seems to be a common theme of most if not all of the school shooters since Columbine. It does not take orders from a handler, just sympathy and observations to the youth that other people have got famous by spectacular shootings.
Another unanswered and avoided question.

He had a receipt for buying a 5 foot ladder. That was not a 5 foot ladder. And wouldn’t people have seen a guy carrying a gun and ladder?
His phone was in an FBI office building, before the shooting.
His house was scrubbed (no silverware??? REALLY?).
