Americans have been invited to visit Afghanistan as tourists in a promotional video shared on Taliban-linked social media accounts.
In the clip, Afghans joked about the country’s reputation for terrorism and encouraged US citizens to consider it as a holiday destination.
It begins with five armed Afghan men standing behind three kneeling and hooded figures in a manner reminiscent of Islamic State hostage videos.
“We have one message for America,” an Afghan says to the camera.
He then pulls the hood from one of the kneeling men, revealing a smiling Caucasian man who gives a thumbs-up and says: “Welcome to Afghanistan!”
The video then shows a man doing pull-ups from the barrel of a destroyed tank, and another swimming in a lake while carrying an assault rifle.
In another segment, an M4 rifle is shown, stamped “Property of US government”.
“Oh, it’s not even on safety,” says someone off camera, triggering laughter from others.
Western visitors are seen dining at a restaurant and wearing traditional Afghan clothes, before exploring the countryside and being warmly greeted by locals.
The video was not officially released by the Taliban, however the group has made efforts to lure visitors and has hosted Western influencers to promote a positive image of the country.

Yeah. Visit beautiful Afghanistan; bring money.
One tribe would welcome you, the next tribe would hold you for ransom.
Did I just space warp through a wormhole to another dimension?
Please tell me this is all a bad dream.
Good question!
Tourist one moment. Hostage the next.
I believe I’ll pass.
🚨⚡UNUSUAL
Afghanistan has released a promotional video aimed at attracting Americans to visit — in a wild and unexpected way.
The message says:
"After liberating our homeland from you, now you’re welcome to come as tourists or guests 😁" pic.twitter.com/VvXaoWm3fb— RussiaNews 🇷🇺 (@mog_russEN) July 7, 2025
Daniel Pearl.
Reads like it’s from “The Bee.”
Send the DNC and the Alphabet people
I certainly wouldn’t want to go but the Afghans are known for their hospitality to guests as well as their fearsome hostility to invaders. Then again Afghanistan is also known for its endemic amoebic dysentery which could well be a life-long souvenir of your visit.
A little background; I was a Peace Corps Volunteer scheduled to go there in 1969. I was ‘deselected’ the day before the group left for Kabul. All but two of our group of 90 came back after 60 days in country. Two young women who were to serve as P.C. secretaries in Kabul had full-time jobs dealing with the stool samples sent in from PCVs around the country. Afghans joked that America was the land of the hard stools. Our joke was that the dysentery started as soon as the plane entered Afghan air space.
It once was beautiful. Very beautiful.
Then Islam came.
The ancestors of today’s Taliban were Buddhists who created great art, or Zoroastrian or Hindu or Nestorian christian or even Manicheans. The kushan empire had great art.
Then Islam came and the descendants of those aesthetic people became barbaric
Would take a person designated as a Special Kind of Stupid to take him up on that deal.
I wish it actually was a headline from “The Babylon Bee”.
Uh, no.
All the queers, trannies, and homosexuals should go there to experience the true blessings of Islam and a 7th century inbred tribal culture.
LOL, Afghanistan is definitely not on my bucket list.
If you are a man (a big if), you will not and should not shirk from a Muslim country.
They are honorable.
You meet them at that level and you will resolve any differences.
Enjoy the Shawarmas.
I’ve never had an issue ‘over there’. And neither should you -unless you’re a nefarious schemer. FR doesn’t seem to have too many of them tho
