Trump Threatens Additional 10% Tariff on Countries Aligning Themselves with BRICS’ Policy

"There will be no exceptions to this policy," the US leader warned

WASHINGTON, July 7. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose an additional 10% tariff on countries supporting policies being pursued by the BRICS grouping.

"Any country aligning themselves with the anti-American policies of BRICS, will be charged an additional 10% tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy," the US leader warned on his Truth Social media platform.

In June, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, who also serves as Russia’s BRICS Sherpa, told the TASS Analytical Center in an interview that the developments at BRICS have not only caused dissatisfaction among the US leader but they also expose the problem of egotism, in the context of external policies, facing the West.

Brazil is hosting the 17th BRICS summit. The agenda includes healthcare, trade, investment, finance, and climate change issues, as well as AI management, and the strengthening of peace and security.

Which to the BRICS may look like all the more reason to hasten away from the US dollar.

Alas, it’s just the BRIS now. Forsaken and foreskinned.

No one with ounce of brain can ignore USA which has the most Nobel prize winners in science. Almost all important inventions such as transistors, wireless, airplanes, miracle medicines and vaccines originated in USA. World is hungry to do business with USA and will pay tariffs to keep doing business with USA.

We are expanding our geopolitical influence and footprint. Making the BRICS nations and those contemplating joining to think twice is a good thing.

“They” do not pay

Americans importing the Brics tariffed products pay the customs duties.

The object is to make their products so expensive they will not be competitive and not imported.

This has nothing to do with the dollar. This is much better policy because it is not weaponizing the dollar. It’s saying you can do what you want but if you want access to our markets their is a cost to doing that.

BRICS countries are trading between themselves without the use of the dollar thus lessening the need to hold dollars. That would obviously lessen the demand for the dollar. Trump is saying that if you you are aiding in the effort to weaken the dollar and remove its reserve currency status then imports from your country will carry an additional 10% tariff. Of course they can choose not to trade with the US and continue with that policy and that’s up to them but the policy is no longer free. I think it’s a good policy. If you are thinking it’s something else and think I’m missing something please let me know.

Trump’s policy is a good policy. He knows the BRIC’s Are in reality tissue paper and air.

In my mind the key is India. Trump will I believe try hard to cut India away. In order to rid America from the China shackles, India could be a great help.

The truth is, America is a natural candidate for a close relationship to America. The problem is that since the beginning India has been opposed to trade while building fantastic companies in need of huge foreign markets.

Emergence into the world is difficult when there lots of old men in the government who live in yesterday every day

Well looked up.

It is moving from using the US dollar as the reserve currency and my point was that threatening punishment could well nudge the BRICS to move more quickly and assuredly in their plans.

The question is not whether they stop trading with the US altogether.

Hahah. Pretty impressive that I didn’t have to look that up isn’t it. I actually have my own thoughts, opinions and a functioning brain. The question IS whether or not trade with the US. Trump just made it so. The countries have to wrestle with the question of less trading with the US (which is a possibility since their products are wont look as attractive unless they eat all of the cost) or continue pursuing de dollarization policies). Trump doesn’t mind the current countries involved continuing down the path which is evidenced by only putting a 10% tariff. He would rather collect the money. If he wanted to stop them he’d make it 50%+. India is a part of this and I suspect he is wrapping up a deal with India. I bet they were pretty happy with the results but Trump just got an additional 10% added to whatever they agreed to. 🤣

They do pay but they can obviously choose to adjust the price as a result of changing cost. Doing so makes the product less attractive so they may see less activity and increased competition.
