The FR Canteen is Free Republic's longest running daily thread
specifically designed to provide entertainment and moral support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afghanistan.
We are indebted to you for your sacrifices for our Freedom.
Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...hope you and Tippy are enjoying your sunrise walks.
High 60s here again today, but no sun for sitting out on the deck.
I hooked the trickle charger onto the bike, and, even though I rigged an umbrulla to shade it from the sun, the Trickle Charger MELTED. Perhaps the heat produced charging the battery was exacerbated by the 95 degree heat, and didn’t vent.
Of course I disconnected it.
I’m afraid to plug it back in, as it might short out the whole bike. The battery was charging for about seven hours, so it wasn’t fully charged yet.
Oh well, I’ll figure it out.
It's been a warm summer here so far but the real hot is coming back this week.
I hope your 4th of July weekend was grand & restful!
So...it’s been really HOT.
Regarding Stephen Holden Doane, I do not remember who asked the question: “Where do we get such men?”
Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
THANK YOU
for your service!
Howdy, Kathy.
Disappointing to see you didn’t get any rain today. Did you get some of the sunshine that broke out this afternoon at least?
Howdy, PRO.
Did you have a good 4th of July weekend even though it’s toasty?
Toasty here, too, but I managed to get some mowing done each day and FINALLY have this place caught up.
Until it rains again, and we have a wet week ahead.
Evening, Kathy. Thanks for another bio.
Howdy, luvie.
Have a good day? Is the weather still being fairly kind and not roasting y’all?
Hot and steamy here.
Hey there, radu!
It was a good day, but of course everyone’s hearts here are heavy because of the loss of life in our state, including one of our local LEO, his girlfriend and both his parents. Two of his siblings are alive.
It wasn’t too bad weather-wise. Got up to about 91, but it’s humid here, too, so the “feel like” was about 93. Doable. At least it wasn’t 100+ as it sometimes is in July. For that we’re all thankful.
Sorry it was so hot and steamy there. I did see up-thread that you finally got the whole lawn mowed. That was a reason to celebrate!
Good evening, Janey...((HUGS))...hope you had a restful day with nice weather.
I think hearts are heavy across the country over what’s going on down there. So sorry to hear about your local LEO and his family.
It was cooler there than it was here! It hit 95 and the heat index was 100 or a little more. No clouds or breeze for relief either like we’ve had the past 3 days. I almost didn’t mow but decided to go for it at 6:00. Got done in just enough time to be able to see to blow the clippings off of Champ and me, and was back in the house at 8:00. With rain chances ramping up this week, I just couldn’t let it go.
I’m whipped but at least I won’t fret about it this week.
