A record-high share of American voters are content with the work of Republican lawmakers, according to the latest NPR/PBS News/Marist Poll.

In the survey, conducted in late June, 36 percent of registered voters approve of the job Republicans in Congress are doing — the highest level recorded since pollsters began asking the question in 2011.

The latest approval rating also marks a 10-point jump from the last time the question was asked, in February 2024, when 26 percent of registered voters approved of the job Republicans in Congress were doing.

Before that, the survey was conducted in March 2021, when 28 percent approved; and in January 2019, when 29 percent approved.

The question was asked numerous times each year from 2011 to 2018. The previous high was recorded in March 2015, when 33 percent of registered voters approved of the job Republicans in Congress were doing. The record low came just a few months later, in August 2015, when 19 percent approved of the job they were doing...

The Republicans always seem to find a way to blow it.

” record-high share of American voters are content with the work of Republican lawmakers”

They haven’t done anything. I cannot think of anything of note they have passed.

Just saw clickbait yesterday-—no, I didn’t click—that said the unpopularity of the bill under vote has “handed the next midterm election to the Democrats.”

Maybe it was mistaken. /S

“They haven’t done anything. I cannot think of anything of note they have passed.”

That likely explains the higher ratings.

They hate being in the majority.

Look at the BBB. All of a sudden they are fiscal hawks? Or trying to buck Trump again like 2018?

They never fought so hard during Obama or Biden.

They lied about repealing Obamacare.

“””They hate being in the majority.”””

It’s easier to sit in the cheap seats and complain.

Don’t do nuthin’

Really, I highly approve of congress *because* they’ve done nothing. I keep looking for a PAC to support that helps people who promise to go to Washington and do their best to make sure nothing happens but hard to find.

“Republicans in Congress see highest approval rating in more than a decade: Poll”

Republicans in Congress see highest approval rating in more than a decade: except for Paul, Tillis and Collins

There, fixed it

Republicans in congress seem to find it unnatural to be more useful than tits on a boar hog. Then so many seem shocked when their approval increases when they are actually doing something even mildly useful.

I long for a "Contract with America" type of campaign which vows to only introduce bills that repeal the tons of garbage built up over the last couple hundred years....no new legislation.

Red Wave 2026? I love to see the differences between Red Eagle Politics (Republican) and Let’s Talk Elections (Liberal). LTE is predicting Dems with 15 house seats flipping to the Dems and 3 Senate seats flipping to the Dems (Maine, Alaska and Nebraska) while REP is being realistic that the house will be close and the Senate Republicans flipping 2 seats.
