‘Deplorable’: Democrats slam SCOTUS ruling in birthright citizenship case
Politico ^ | 6/27/25 | Aaron Pellish

Democrats warned the decision paves the way for “a vile betrayal of our Constitution.”

Democratic members of Congress sharply criticized the Supreme Court’s Friday ruling that limited district courts’ use of nationwide injunctions in a case challenging President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship.

The court did not rule on whether the Trump administration has legal standing to revoke birthright citizenship for the children of some immigrants. Yet Democrats warned the decision paves the way for “a vile betrayal of our Constitution,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said in a social media post.

“The Supreme Court’s decision today will result in the infringement of Americans’ rights for years to come. Limiting nationwide injunctions will have long-lasting effects on our courts, ceding even more power to the executive branch and providing justice only to those with the means or luck to have a lawyer,” Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) said in a statement. “The Fourteenth Amendment is clear: if you’re born in the United States, you’re an American citizen.”

This has nothing to do with birthright citizenship and everything to do with the If-it's-Trump's-idea-it's-bad mentality of the Left. Too bad the Left can't 'do something good for American citizens instead of wasting time on fighting Trump at every turn.

Every birthright dropping expands our carbon footprint and drives up the cost of food and healthcare. We won’t even go into the the landfills loaded with crap filled diapers.

Birthright citizenship is a shortcut for those who do not qualify to apply to enter the United States legally.

They did a lot of Judge shopping to get these Nationwide Injunctions.

Do you think it is fair that the Judges have to give the "fees" back to the Dem Party? lol

1) anyone born here is a citizen

2) anyone born here and under our laws and jurisdictions is a citizen

Democrats want number one to be true.

Number two is what the Constitution says. Either of that second cause means something or it doesn’t. What it means is somebody can’t illegaly enter our country and give birth to a citizen.

“In limiting nationwide injunctions, SCOTUS has — once again — prioritized loyalty to Trump over defense of the Constitution. Deplorable,” Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) said on X.

Birthright citizenship was all about the offspring of slaves brought here against their will, and nothing to do with illegal border hoppers invading the country for free stuff.

All they have to do is get their pet cases certified as class actions an follow long-established legal precedent instead of relying on activist judges to rule by fiat.

What a load of crap -- they were singing the exact opposite tune about universal injunctions issued by district court judges during Biden's Administration regarding things like student loans, etc..

But in all honesty, many conservatives are equally two-faced in cheering on universal injunctions during Biden's presidency, but now whining about them during Trump's.

Lots of people on both sides favor an imperial judiciary as long as it does what they want. Kind of consistent with people supporting giving a President extraordinary powers as long as it is a President they like.

Fortunately, this Supreme Court seems to be playing it down the middle in terms of separation of powers. This was absolutely the right thing to do, regardless of who is President. There are ways around it, but the ways around it are more reasonable and will prevent the massive forum shopping, and getting multiple bites at the apple, we had when every district court judge could issue a universal injunction even when only a single individual plaintiff was before them.

Rats ignore that truth just like they ignore the 2nd Amendment. Our Founding Fathers knew it would be necessary for the citizenry to be armed equal to our Masters, but then Ronald Reagan signed into law that no citizen could own a machine gun made after 1986.

The price of a full auto UZI, went from ~$1,500 in 1985 (I know, I was shopping for one) to nearly $20,000 today. If I (or any other citizen) want full auto, we 1) have to buy an antique and 2) have to pay an impossible sum of money. That's even assuming I live in a state that allows full auto.

That pesky Constitution is too complicated for even SCOTUS to understand, apparently.

LOL. I know we don’t like to criticize someone’s personal appearance. But in her case, it’s hard not to notice her bizarre hairstyle. And it makes you wonder why she wants to appear that way.

Democrats need birthright citizenship to continue their ‘Great Equalizer’ plan of flooding this country with future third world, sh*t hole country voters.

That is exactly why they imported over 20 million illegal aliens under Biden, and exactly why they so militantly oppose any efforts to deport any and all illegal aliens.

They are playing hard ball in the ‘long game’.
