President Donald Trump made clear Wednesday the administration is “not looking for a long-term war” with Iran.
Trump addressed concerns among members of the Make America Great Again base that the United States would be pulled into a long-term war, while fielding a question from Brian Glenn of Real America’s Voice.
“We’re not looking for a long-term war. We’re looking– I only want one thing–Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. That’s it,” Trump said. “I’m not looking long-term, short-term, and I’ve been saying that for 20 years. I’ve been saying it as a civilian, who got a lot of publicity, people would cover it.”
“Very simply, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. That’s it,” he continued. “It’s not a question of anything else, and if you did, you wouldn’t have much of a country because they would use it on us and use it on other people and they’d be a terror all over the world.”

there will never ever be another war with Iran as soon as their crazy Satanic leaders are eliminated along with their nuclear bomb and iCBM factories.
‘iran will be very carefully watched to assure no rebuilding of its military capacity or arms production factories
no more war with Iran because Iran won’t be able to wage any more wars
Well, let’s have a short-term war with an overwhelmingly decisive victory, then. Or if you are that reticent to fight, help Israel make its war short-term with an overwhelmingly decisive victory—and shut up those vile beings who always demand “proportional response”.
We’ve had a long-term war with Iran for 46 years now. It would be nice to see it stop.
Um...Iran has been in a long term war with the US...to the tune of five decades.
The Islamic Repblic has been at war with us for a long time. They and their terrorist proxies have killed around 1500 American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan over the last 20+ years, and maimed many thousands more. Plus proxy Hezbollah killed 241 Marines sleeping in their barracks in ‘83. Plus the regime has led “Death to America” chants for decades while building a nuke program with the goal of following through on that threat. Plus Trump and other admin officials have been on the Ayatollah’s hit list for over 5 years. Plus the takeover of our embassy in ‘79.
It is reality there are bad actors in Iran amd it is also reality that multiple newspapers, some even in Israel, reported that Netanyahu strengthened Hamas to drive a wedge between them and Abbas to hinder the formation of two states.
With that said, and based upon the idea, the principle even, it would be better to stay out of this and thus not end up in another quagmire given that Iran is much larger than Iraq amd that there are reports from UK newspapers that China may have already sent weapons to Iran recently, caution is advised.
We all know the neocon pitch to go to war against Iraq was based upon lies, and it’s all over the internet the repeated times Netanyahu made claims about how Saddam was inching closer to the bomb turned out to be false and it’s all over the internet the videos and words also of him claiming since the early 90’s how Iran is years, other times months, other times days, away from getting the bomb, amd it always turned out to be false.
So...perhaps, given that Iran isn’t complying with the NPT and given that Israel won’t even sign it, won’t allow inspections, yet is bombing Iran for not complying with the NPT, and given that the US doesn’t want a long term war, doesn’t want to get involved in regime change, and dorsnt want to be involved at all (as polls show is the position of most Anericans) and given the US doesn’t want to take a chance of mission creep, how about 4 or 5 western nations and the BRICS members, all together inspecting both Iranian and Israeli nuclear sites to ratchet down the temperature on this?
And India, the US, amd others have nukes in case Pakistan got any ideas in a scenario like that.
Tulsi was right; they're not close to having nuclear weapons and this is not about nuclear weapons. It's about regime change in Iran. It's about installing a pro-Western government which will not be an ally of Russia.
No one ever wanted a long term war.
“Home before the leaves fall” — Wilhelm II.
Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.

As long as Islam exists there will be war.
He should be clear and define the mission objective. One week. Take out the Iranian nuke facilities. Go home.

Trump’s first order of business was a feud with Zelinski and he has never once stepped back from the public eye.
Trump is, and has been a fool to conduct diplomacy, and to make National Security Decisions while essentially answering questions to the MSM thrusting mic’s in his face.
There is a reason for the State Department, e.g., it serves as a filter and allows the president to make a well thought out decision when presented with issues.
Trump has fallen into the Vanity Trap. Trump is unpredictable; the US used to stand for stability but has been reduced to “being unpredictable” because we have fallen from total control to looking for an edge.
Trump’s negotiants were only a tool to keep a lid on things long enough to attack Russian airfields, or to attack Iran. Of course the world sees a weakened American who now engages in trickery and deception to conduct international relations.
Having retired from the Department of State, I loathed them as a department of government because of the DNC capture of the agency. However, the Dept of State does perform valuable diplomacy. It is a sad time that a sitting US president has so upshured an agency, in part that he does not trust the DNC organization, but he can appoint ambassadors and others to conduct “HIS” negotiantions; he can have the NSA or CIA monitor all the lesser important work they perform.
Trump may have initially gained some clout or leverage by his public performance of diploamcy; however, now he is doing great harm to the US’s international standing. We are no longer looked to or as a Stable State Actor on the International Stage. The people who Trump must ensure remains calm are those with the means to blow up the world. It is beginning to sound and read around the world like these people are neither calm nor trusting of the US and they are all pondering in how long they can wait before they strike when dealing with the USA today.
We no longer have a professional or functioning USG that a president can depend upon to conduct his INTENT. This breakdown within the USG is a danger to the entire world, given that Trump is the only one, and he is making decisions with a mic in his face.
Wars are like lawsuits. You’re risking an unpredictable result no matter how good your lawyer says your chances are.

Many of us here have been saying that but the never Trumpers and Debbie Downers don’t agree.
