It might be better if we just outlawed them.

I would suggest a small, tightly focused platform (focused on less federal control). I think political funding should be withheld from any candidate who fails to rigorously follow the simple platform or who fails to support the party. No more Mitch McConnells, John McCains, etc.

Birthing a new political party with any hope of achieving power has always been a long shot. Libertarians, Greens, American Independent, and similar interests all want a bigger place at the table, but our binary system is welded in place.

What you want would require competing parties in a parliamentary system where parties enforce discipline and vote the party line.

I really wish Trump had not ripped into Elon this morning, and instead welcomed his input to fix the bill.

Sure, let’s make America into Canada. All right or left issues would be watered down into a permanent bureaucratic middle-ground where the deep state picks and chooses our leaders. Taking governmental advice from a bitter South African who didn’t get his company’s tax credits isn’t going to end well.

There are in fact three major parties in play, the dems, the repubs, and Trump (supporters). The third not an officially recognized party but a formidable political entity in its own right.

Trump’s motto has always been to hit back harder. Looks like Elon is going to challenge that and go at him full throttle. It’s a shame.

Over the course of our nation’s history, new political parties have been formed and old ones have died off.

But that was back in the days when money wasn’t such a factor. Now you can’t do anything without buckets and buckets of cash.

So unfortunately, anything Musk tries will be a repeat of Ross Perot’s attempt. Crash and burn while dividing the conservative vote.

🙁

“I really wish Trump had not ripped into Elon this morning ...”

Could the Musk-Trump verbiage be play-acting?

This was tried once before. It was called the Reform Party, and it accomplished very little.

One of the prominent figures who actually considered a presidential run as a Reform Party candidate -- in 2000 -- was none other than Donald Trump.

He did the ground work up front to explore his options, but decided against running because he recognized the futility of running for President on a third-party ticket.

Instead, he decided his best approach would be to hijack the GOP nomination process in 2016.

So this is where we are right now in Washington: Democrats and Republicans in Congress, and a President who is -- for all intents and purposes -- politically unaffiliated.

No. Why would I join ranks with the 11%? If we were to rank political parties based on their desired form of government on a 1 - 100 freedom index scale why would I join the 11% - 70%? With for example 1 being communists and 100 being libertarian.

AOC may be in the 10% but I’m sure Newsome is at least 20 or better. Again, why would I join that?

Newsome is only above a 0 whenever he needs votes. He will present himself as a 65 for a few months in 2027, if it looks like he has a chance in 2028.

Try it on the state level, where the Republicans cannot win (California, Massachusetts). Have congresscritters from that state caucus with Republicans mostly but not be beholden to them. If successful expand to other states. This way you don’t risk crazies taking new turf as happenedin Alberta, Canada by the NDP a few years back.

Sure split the reps into 2, against a united democrat party in a 2 party system.

Elon apparently IS on his ketamine.
