MAGA firebrand Steve Bannon called on President Donald Trump to condemn Ukraine’s weekend drone attack on Russian airbases and “pull all support” after reports that the White House was not informed in advance of the offensive.
More than 40 warplanes, including Russia’s Tu-95 and Tu-22 strategic bombers, were reportedly damaged or destroyed across four airbases in Murmansk and Irkutsk, thousands of miles from Ukraine’s border. The operation, which Ukraine revealed it had been in planning for 18-months, came just one day before Monday’s peace talks were set to begin in Istanbul.
Axios reported on Sunday that sources within the administration confirmed Kyiv did not notify Trump in advance.
Speaking to Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec on Monday’s episode of The War Room, Bannon blasted Ukraine’s attack as “irresponsible” and accused Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) of pushing conflict with Russia behind Trump’s back.
[If no one informed Trump] then the White House has to condemn this immediately and pull all support and tell Lindsey Graham to come home or we are going to put you under arrest when you come home. You’re stirring it up. Lindsey Graham’s over there saying: ‘Hey, forget Trump. I got the House and the Senate. We’re going to pass it. You’re going to see something in a couple of days.’ Remember that? He’s stirring it up over there. He’s telling me they got backing.
If they did not give us a heads up on this, full stop, no minerals deal, walk away from all of it. They’re irresponsible. They’re dragging us into a kinetic third world war. As we said, us – we’re getting dragged in now. Or the deep state is driving us in there. Either of these are not good.

Bannon is right... Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and the FBI have to gut the deep state operatives who knew about the attack, the planning of which began when Biden was in office.

Graham's meddling is a bad look for Trump. True or not, it gives the impression of known war mongers interfering and/or undermining the president's initiatives. Trump needs to 'strongly' put an end to this interloping lest his leadership be questioned.

I suspect Graham could get some sanctions through Congress, but I don’t think they could override a Trump veto.
There are over 40 House seats that were won in 2024 by < 5%. None of GOP portion of those is going to get cast in the role of Trump betrayer by overriding a veto.
Historically, only 7% of the entire veto total (over 1000) have ever been overridden. Also, if either house arranges to pass the bill within 10 days of adjournment, the President can just not sign it or not veto it and it will have to restart the entire process. Pocket vetos enable all sorts of people to avoid uncomfortable votes. A pocket veto is when a bill is not signed and Congress has adjourned. Otherwise, not signing is considered signing.

Bannon is saying Ukraine took out 41 Russian strategic bombers (nuclear capable) and it could not have happened without American and/or NATO help.
Ukraine has done a lot of amazing, unexpected things in this war. They have been able to stay in the fight because of aid from the West. On the other hand, Russia has been able to stay in the fight because of Chinese tech and the purchase of oil by China and India.
I suppose you can make the claim the Ukrainians could not have been able to mount this attack if they were occupied by Russian troops...
Everyone, including the Biden administration, expected the Russians to roll over Ukraine in a few days. The Ukrainians surprised everyone, probably even themselves.
I have no idea why so many people don’t remember the incident you refer to in your post.
Everyone here was hating on Nuland and Barky at the time, and rightly so.
But now it’s as if we’ve forgotten all about it.
