This is not a big deal. The dam was built in 1911 to support some industry which has long since left. It serves no real purpose now, taking it down is really ok.
To: cuz1961
Nuke plants need water. Just build a nuke plant near where the dam used to be.
That will surely appease the lefties and their concern over fish travel.

It serves as a crucial source of flood control, hydroelectric power, drinking water for Hiawassee — and, just as importantly, it fuels the local economy.
Towns County in Georgia has a population of roughly 12,000, a number that swells each summer as tourists flock to the lake and mountain trails. Since 2021, visitors have spent between $90 million and $100 million annually in the area, generating about $6 million each year in state and local taxes, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

The Cuyahoga River was so polluted in the 1960s and 70s that it routinely caught fire. It’s a good thing that they stopped it from doing that.
To: Carriage Hill
With the dams removed there will be frog floating rain and many people will up to their necks in flood waters. Suckers.

I think I missed something here. What does a dam being repaired in Georgia have to do with a dam being removed in Ohio?
To: cuz1961
Trust me, the river does not care.
