Rand: ‘America First’ Vision Has Won Out Hearts and Minds of Public, But Neocons Still Trying to Secretly ‘Undermine’ Trump
Breitbart News ^ | May 28 | Matthew Boyle

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News exclusively that the neocons have lost the hearts and minds of the American public who are firmly with President Donald Trump’s America First vision on foreign policy, but that they are still very powerful behind the scenes in the swamp in Washington and trying to secretly “undermine” the president’s push for peace worldwide.

“I think in the first term, one of the most remarkable achievements, and it really wasn’t so much anticipated, was the Abraham Accords,” Paul told Breitbart News. “A lot of that was Jared [Kushner], but also President Trump. It was doing something that was really outside the box. Everybody tried to have a big peace plan for what do you do in Israel? Instead, they went out outside that and started trying to make peace between Israel and certain countries. I think the potential for that to continue is significant and has a great deal of potential to happen under the second Trump administration. I thought his remarks, particularly towards neocons and the nation-building stuff, were nothing short of remarkable really. That’s the kind of thing that someone like myself has sort of wished for for a long time, for someone to say ‘We’re not into nation-building and we’re not going to be getting involved in every war.’ Frankly, I think he’s doing a great job on the foreign policy front, getting them to invest over here, and having good relations is a good idea.”

“What I particularly like about President Trump is he’s willing to do things the neocons would never do. You have to realize the neocons are still here,” Paul said. “They populate the ranks of many of the Republican senators as well as Republican congressmen....

----

Sure he is...

While he's stated he's not going to vote to pass the budget bill

likely ensuring Trump and the republicans lose seats in the midterms, and losing the house and senate

and letting the leftist gain complete control of the country, and getting Trump impeached again

I’m sure Rand is thrilled the International Trade Court led by an Obama appointed judge has neutralized all the Trump tariffs.

Sen. Paul should know.

He’s one of the traitors trying to undermine President Trump.

Yes they are. He has one big fat neocon dealing in foreign policy regarding Ukraine. A person who is misleading him. I imagine State Dept still full of traitors.

That person needs a kick to the curb.

Can you expand on that? I’m not up to speed.

Not surprised the traitors are still kicking around.

RandFan: "Rand warns the Neocons are still there waiting and plotting for their moment"

CptnObvious: "What is a Neocon?"

The word "Neocon" has become a weapon of choice amongst our neo-isolationists -- it's now used with the same disregard for definitions, and the same malicious intent, as the Left uses with such terms as "fascist" or "Nazi".
In practice it simply means, "I really, really don't like you so I'm going to call you the most despicable word I can think of."

Yes, years ago there were actual neocons, just as there were actual fascists & Nazis, but none of those terms apply to today's American Republicans.
When Trump talks about "neocons", he's talking about Bush & McCain type international nation-builders, global interventionists, aggressive war-starters, the people who thought the US could turn Iraq & Afghanistan into Jeffersonian democracies, or helped destroy Libya for no discernable reason, etc.

Pres. Trump's foreign & defense policy is "Peace Through Strength".
Our neo-isolationists want to ignore the "Strength" part and interpret "Peace" to mean "run and hide", "keep our heads in the sand", "pretend our oceans can still defend us", and "retreat, retreat, retreat whenever challenged."

That is not Pres. Trump's policy -- never was, never will be.
He is not talking about ignoring every challenge or retreating from every international bully.

He does insist we pick our fights carefully and work first & foremost to achieve Peace Through Strength.

Yeah that and actually reducing government spending.

Maybe if the bill actually cut spending and started to reduce the debt, it would be worth supporting. No way we should be supporting it only because Trump supports it. We went from $2 Trillion being cut and $5K rebate checks to this.
