Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “All In” that if Republicans passed President Donald Trump’s spending bill as is, they would “get smoked” in the 2026 midterm elections.
Host Chris Hayes said, “Josh Hawley, Republican, Missouri, wrote a big op-ed in The New York Times saying Medicaid cuts are a bad idea. Does that end up mattering in the Senate?”
Murphy said, “I think it’s a great question, Chris because the Republican Party still does essentially operate like a cult. And that’s not fundamentally different in the Senate than it is in the House. I mean, yes, you’ve got people like Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins who, you know, are definitely going to have a hard time voting for these massive cuts, but after that, you know, my read is that Donald Trump kind of can say jump and everybody else in the Senate probably says how high?”

Never ever take advice from a RAT, they’re all full of crap.
So he’s voting for it, right?
The opposite is more likely true.
IMO, if the Republicans DON’T pass the BBB, then they will get smoked in the midterms, the Democrats will always tell you what they fear, passing a good BBB especially if it contains no tax on tips, no tax on over time and no tax on social security will be HUGE winners with the average voter, not passing it will be a huge disappointment.
Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT)............
When you are losing, you look for a silver lining, or a spin.
What he figures is he can call it a win either way.
With a hurumph, he can claim that if the bill passes, the republicans don’t actually get a victory, because they will pay for it in the mid-terms.
If this were a certainty, he would never say it, because he would want the republicans to make this mistake. So enjoy the dour grapes.
Obviously, if the bill fails, they are going to do a democrat happy dance, which is evidence right there that they don’t really think the bill was going to help them in the mid-terms.
A Dem Rat Senator looking out for Republican’s best interests? Really?
The problem is the GOP listen to this crap and don’t do what they should do and then get Smoked
I don’t think Murphy goes far enough. America is on the edge of financial collapse due to a catastrophic debt cycle.
The biggest threat to America is our debt and Trump, through his budget, seems to be ignoring it and piling on.
The President needs to forget about the rest of the world and lead on this crisis.
To be clear, Murphy is a POS and if Harris was President he wouldn’t care about the debt and would spend spend spend.
You’d think a state couldn’t elect a sleazier dirtbag than Muphy, and yet this same state keeps electing stolen valor Blumenthal.
Where have the adults gone?
Take out all the democrat pork. We don’t need their votes.
A dipstick democrat offering republicans electoral advice on the midterms.
OK, then.
What have you been smokin’ chrissy?
So glad I no longer live in Connecticut.
So, Josh Hawley (R-MO), thinks it is a good idea to pay the medical bills for millions of illegal immigrants and their Anchor Babies?
His concern is duly noted.
