Before Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost became pope, a social media account under his name shared criticisms of the Trump administration’s positions on immigration.
Months before Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost became the first American pope, a social media account under his name expressed criticism of Vice President JD Vance, sharing an article that called the vice president’s interpretation of Christian doctrine “wrong.”
The piece, published in The National Catholic Reporter, was a rebuttal to Mr. Vance’s interpretation of a Catholic teaching that he had used to defend the Trump administration’s deportation policies.
The post on X, which the account shared in February, was one of several that highlighted articles criticizing the Trump administration’s positions on immigration.
In April, the account under Cardinal Prevost’s name shared commentary from a Catholic writer who asked whether President Trump and President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador saw “the suffering” caused by their immigration policies.
“Is your conscious not disturbed?” the writer, Rocco Palmo, wrote. “How can you stay quiet?”
In July 2015, the account reposted an article by Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York that described Mr. Trump’s “anti-immigrant rhetoric” as “problematic.” Three years later, the account shared a post from Cardinal Blase J. Cupich of Chicago, saying there was “nothing remotely Christian, American or morally defensible” about the administration’s policy of separating migrant children from their parents.
The criticism of Mr. Trump largely echoes the positions of Pope Francis, who also expressed his disagreement with the administration’s deportation policies. While Cardinal Prevost appeared to be relatively active on X, the account largely eschewed expression of his own opinions and instead reposted comments made by church leaders and articles from Catholic news outlets. It was unclear if he ran the account himself or it was operated by staff members.
At times, the account...

Do we have to send J.D. Vance to go meet with this Pope too?
Pope WOKE II
He’s our pope. He is not subject to election.
I am going to give him a chance. At least this time we likely won’t have to trust translations from Italian for a lot of this.
This guy spent too much time in Peru’s high altitude and damaged his brain.
Francis got snuffed.
Well, yer’Popness, you are new here. Sure, you look to be American born and raised, but you sure look to have taken your baptism in the libtard font.
So...tell you what. Stay in your lane. Keep your eye on the salvation of your flock.
Leave the politics to the adults in the room.
”I see what you did there...”
And so it starts. Presence of the NYT is an immediate and sure indicator of slime.
Why’d they pick an American Pope?
To be the anti-Trump.
Leftists love him.
Their agit-prop on social media is hyping this Leo up big time, here is a good example of their propaganda making the rounds.

BREAKING: MAGA world melts down as the Catholic Church elects American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost to become Pope Leo XIV — a man who has slammed Donald Trump and J.D. Vance in the past.
Republicans wanted a far-right pope and instead they got a continuation of Pope Francis’ legacy...
In February, then-Cardinal Prevost shared a piece on X entitled “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others” in which the author pushed back on Vance’s claim that Christians should love their family first, then their neighbor, then their community, then their fellow citizens, then the rest of the world.
Vance was attempting to twist Catholic theology to defend his virulent anti-migrant views by suggesting that Christians don’t have to prioritize care for anyone beyond their immediate familial circle.
The then-Cardinal also retweeted a message slamming Trump and El Salvadoran Dictator Nayib Bukele for the “illicit” deportation of innocent Maryland father Kilmar Abrego Garcia and the “suffering” caused by MAGA deportation policy.
On top of that, he shared an article from the conservative American Cardinal Timothy Dalton entitled “Why Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric is so problematic” which condemned the “nativism” espoused by the MAGA movement. The piece also stated that Christians should see “the immigrant as a gift to our nation” and “welcome the stranger.”
Pope Leo XIV is expected to carry on his predecessor’s legacy of advocating for action on climate action, upholding social justice, and caring for the global poor. In other words, he will stand for everything that MAGA opposes.
Trump himself has already reacted to the announcement with a pro forma congratulations message on Truth Social that was likely written by a staffer.
“Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was just named Pope. It is such an honor to realize that he is the first American Pope,” wrote Trump’s account. “What excitement, and what a Great Honor for our Country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV. It will be a very meaningful moment!”
Once Trump gets a better sense of Pope Leo XIV’s beliefs — namely that Christians are called to love and care for all of the people of the world, not just white conservatives — the president will likely be singing a very different tune. If and when that attack comes, we will proudly stand with Pope Leo’s love and kindness against Trump’s hatred and cruelty.

Yeah, I think from his first public address on he is going to take on the Trump administration...
A Pope elected with the purpose of influencing US politics?
How many illegal aliens live behind the Vatican walls?
Why are they flooded with them?
Simply they don’t want them.
Leftist propaganda extolling new Pope. They love him.
He is meant to be the anti-Trump.

“The new Pope didn’t post once in 2024. In 2025, he posted 5 times:
- CRITICIZED JD Vance’s take on Jesus.
-POSTED article critiquing Vance’s
statements on deportation policies.
- RETWEETED the Pope’s health twice.
- RETWEETED criticism of Trump and Bukele’s laughter at Abrego Garcia.

Let’s hope when he belittles America First, he does it in English
Mr Pope …….tear down your wall.
Follow the money always works. This pope wants more illegal Catholics flooding in to USA so that his churches will fil up more and bring in more cash. If I heard correctly on TV short time ago, the Catholic Church is heavy in debt.
Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.
