The Morning Briefing: Hey, Thom Tillis — the GOP Doesn't Need a Lisa Murkowski Lite
PJ Media ^ | May 08, 2025 | Stephen Kruiser

Posted on 05/08/2025 6:30:58 AM PDT by george76

Within weeks of the embarrassment of the 2022 red trickle midterm elections, Tillis thought it would be a good idea to get into bed with the Democrats on a hideous amnesty bill that was an homage to Barack. The timing was almost as bad as the bill itself.

...

Now Tillis is throwing his second hissy fit of the year — opposing Pete Hegseth's confirmation as Secretary of Defense — and has become a fly in the ointment regarding Ed Martin’s nomination as U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. Tillis takes umbrage with Martin's support of J6 defendants, especially his reference to some of them as political prisoners.

Martin has been serving in the role on an interim basis and .. focusing on ferreting out government corruption. If Tillis goes through with this and kneecaps Trump by keeping Martin from getting the job permanently, things could really get ugly...

What’s especially galling about Tillis’ obstinacy is that the decision on who becomes U.S. attorney could fall into the hands of mustache-twirling, TDS villain Judge James Boasberg. Boasberg could nominate the corrupt Jack Smith of special counsel fame.

What Tillis wants to do is lock up more Jan. 6 protesters

...

So, Tillis wants to rekindle the Democrats' un-American witch hunt and let them resurrect an issue that greatly contributed to their defeat last year. How is this guy a Republican?

...

The J6 stuff from Tillis is beyond the pale. As Chris wrote yesterday, call all of his offices and express your displeasure. These rogue interludes of his are progressively (pun intended) more disgusting. Rather than continue to have these sad attention-whore moments, Tillis might want to get involved with creating legislation that would be beneficial for liberty-minded constituents.

That's a good way to get noticed.

Trailer park Thom. We need to go full-on ridicule Alinsky on the guy. Ten Mega-ton yield of ridicule.

"How long have you been a white trash slum lord, Mr.& Mrs. Tillis?"

Talk to Thune, he can fix this in a minute. Put someone else on the committee. Alternatively, he can call a recess and Trump can make a recess appointment. Whatever happens DON’T let Boseburg make that appointment!

Senator Thom Tillis may have a few skeletons in his closet, in regards to those real estate dealings that just only now are becoming apparent.

He could end up being primaried, if the long arm of the law does not descend upon the fraud now being revealed.

Resignation is always an option.

In 2026, if we can primary Tillis in NC and Cornyn in TX, and flip Ossoff (D-GA), that would be a pretty good start.

Thom Tillis is no longer representing conservative voters in North Carolina. His maneuvering behind the scenes shows he has shifted to the Romney, Murkowski, Collins, McConnell, Cassidy, and Graham left of center “bipartisan” wing of the GOP.

He is in the process of committing political suicide. Is there a prize waiting for him after he loses his reelection bid in 2026? NC is a state which will elect a Democrat if the Republican candidate is mediocre. Remember the one term Washington insider Senator Elizabeth Dole who ignored voters, and rarely visited the state, during her only term in office?

Why do politicians betray the voters who elected them? Four primary reasons:

1). Follow the money.
2). Sex and entrapment
3). Power and ego.
4). An epiphany. Change in core beliefs. Rarely happens.

Which of the above explains the behavior of Thom Tillis in the Senate today?

His declared asset values were way over-inflated. He has committed fraud by measure of the “James Prosecution Matrix Measure” standard of financial crimes.

Ed Martin has been a paid commentator on Russian TV about 150 times. He does not need to be in an official job in government.

If Bondi were functional, he’d be wrapped up and out of office. Then, under a relatively new law, the NC GOP executive committee could submit three names to the Dem gov, who would pick from there the Tillis replacement.

Obviously Tillis is compromised and is being blackmailed.

January 6 has become a touchstone for corrupt politicians to buff and polish and allude to in order to confer purity to their motives.

As the Babylon Bee mentioned, it was where grandma rioters killed zeroes of people and endangered our democracy.

Just emailed https://tillis.senate.gov/email-me:

Hi, we're soliciting donations for the Lara Trump campaign for US Senate! We hope that an early start to the North Carolina Primary will fuel us to victory over that back-stabbing liberal, Thom Tillis. Can we count on you for a donation?

Tillis won his first NC election by 1.5% in 2014. In 2020 he won by 0.7%. He’s up in 2026.

The state has a Democrat governor.

Budd won in 2022 by 3.2%.

Trump won NC in 2024 by 3.2%.

Tillis will run without Trump on the ticket.

It’s hard to scream at GOP senators who represent their state’s political makeup. 0.7% wins are not the stuff of being tied too closely to Trump. He’s Swamp, btw, through and through, so it may be better to have a Dem in that seat to be subsequently replaced by non Swamp.

It’s time for Tillis to receive a visit to talk about his trailer park. Let him know he has a choice, either shut up and vote with Trump for the next 20 months or face investigations into every aspect of his life a possibly serving jail time.

“The state has a Democrat governor.”

“It’s hard to scream at GOP senators who represent their state’s political makeup.”

######################

NC has large majorities in both Houses of the State Legislature. NC is quite red, but unfortunately we ran a very weak and vulnerable candidate for governor in 2024.

We can primary Tillis if there’s a solid candidate to challenge him. IMHO, Lara Trump would win easily here if she wanted the job, both the primary and the general.

There would be a big-time smear campaign against her, of course, but I believe voters here would see through that.
