Key GOP senator won't support Trump loyalist Ed Martin to be D.C.'s top prosecutor

WASHINGTON — Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said he wouldn't support Ed Martin, President Donald Trump's nominee for U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, likely blocking the path to confirmation for the “Stop the Steal” organizer who had closely aligned himself with Jan. 6 defendants.

“I’ve indicated to the White House I wouldn’t support his nomination,” Tillis said Tuesday after meeting with Martin on Monday night.

Tillis is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is overseeing Martin's nomination. The panel has 12 Republicans and 10 Democrats, meaning if all other members aside from Tillis voted along party lines, the vote on Martin would end in a tie and his nomination would not be reported favorably to the full Senate.

What a jerk. Why do Republicans keep voting RINOs into office?

Kemp here in GA is not running for Senate because he would not win the primary. The base is all MAGA Patriots and cares about election integrity, and know Kemp did nothing in 2020 on that front.

I suspect some of the same dynamics at work in NC. The question is, is it enough to carry the primary against a sitting Senator and then the general election?

The worst part of this is - with no agreement from Congress, the head of the DC Court gets to appoint the DC Federal Attorney to the court

That judge is none other than James Boasberg.

This keeps up, we’ll know many of the names in the Epstein files LONG before Pam Bondi ever gets them off her desk.

He’s up my friends. November 2026. What will the NC republicans do?
Answer: nothing. We’re stuck with him and the non-fighters like Sununu and Governor Kemp. Democrats play to win and if Tillis loses we have ourselves to blame.

Kemp would have won the primary. Incumbency is a tough nut to crack whether it be Tillis in the primary or Ossoff in the General and all we got are weenies.

“What is his reason for the No vote?”
_______________

Ed Martin has been very supportive of the move to free the January 6-ers. That is the main reason Senator Tillis claims he is against confirming him.

(Note that Ed Martin's nomination is one of the very few cases where a U.S. Attorney was nominated directly by President Trump. The majority of nominations for U.S. Attorneys are initiated by the U.S. Senators from the jurisdiction involved. Many seem to misunderstand this process and continue to blame Trump for the poor choices made by U.S. Senators.)

He claimed it was due to Ed Martin's stance on J6. The RINO still believes that Trump was responsible, and that Trump supporters were actually engaged in an insurrection.

Perhaps if the RINO had actually been present at the Capitol, and on the outside then he would have realized that it was the percussion flash-bang grenades being used by the police against a peaceful gathering in support of the president, and that is when the entire mood changed.

North Carolina offers little help when it comes to saving this nation.
