The moves are part of the Trump administration's maximum pressure campaign on Iran to help weaken its terrorist activities in the Middle East, including through its use of proxy forces.

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced the United States will impose secondary sanctions on all countries or individuals that purchase oil or petrochemicals from Iran.

The announcement comes a day after the State Department sanctioned seven entities it accused of trading Iranian oil and petrochemical products.

The president confirmed the new secondary sanctions in a post on Truth Social, warning countries they would not be allowed to do business with the U.S. if they purchase oil from Iran.

"All purchases of Iranian Oil, or Petrochemical products, must stop, NOW!" Trump wrote. "Any Country or person who buys ANY AMOUNT of OIL or PETROCHEMICALS from Iran will be subject to, immediately, Secondary Sanctions. They will not be allowed to do business with the United States of America in any way, shape, or form. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

The moves are part of the Trump administration's maximum pressure campaign on Iran to help weaken its terrorist activities in the Middle East, including through its use of proxy forces.

We haven’t had a bold leader since Reagan, it is refreshing.

China seems Iranian oil destination, with some (oddly?) via Singapore.

But it all goes through Kharg Island.

Anthony Blinken and Biden allowed, no they actually fueled the explosion of Brics.

That these two totally destroyed actual diplomacy, when they cut off communiction with Russia, they lost the ability to understand that Brics was not only growing, but it was creating an entire swath of the world where the USD is the last currency used.

Energy is necessary. Just because Biden destroyed the EU’s used of oil and NG and the Germany economy... no body can actually afford to not buy available Oil.

Iranian Oil is no longer Iranian Oil when you add 1% product from any other nation.

Trump is working hard to try, yes try, to reverse Brics ascension.

The most damaging presidential administration in American history was Biden when he allowed 2/3s of the world population to apply or join membership in an Economic Entity that is outside the USD.

I hope not. Did a similar maneuver from an earlier president eventually lead to the attack on Pearl Harbor?
Or maybe my history is a little off.

We must have sanctions against half the country’s honor at this point.

We saw how this goes with Japan just prior to WW2.

Thanks for the history note. The situation in the 1940s was far more complex and drawn out, compared to what we see now.
The Saber Rattling or Brinkmanship quickly escalated to the point neither side could easily back down.

China.

Our sanctions have given China exclusive access to Iran’s oil at greatly discounted prices

I love how he writes posts like he’s sending a memo or a letter… “thank you for your attention to this matter”. Lol.

There’s plenty of other oil. This is just, as the story said, “maximum pressure” on Iran - while we’re negotiating away their nuclear program.
