A 50-year-old man polluted holy water with urine at a York County Catholic Church earlier this month, according to court records.
Jesse John Sokoll, 50, of no fixed address, has been charged with intentional desecration of a venerated object, according to court documents filed by York City police.
An affidavit of probable cause written by police gave this account:
On April 22, police responded to Saint Patrick Catholic Church at the 200 block of South Beaver Street for a vandalism report that had occurred on April 14 around 2:15 p.m., according to the affidavit.
A person told police a man wearing a green and white ball cap, orange T-shirt, black pants and a blue backpack entered the church through a side entrance and walked down the center of the church aisle between the pews, police said.
The man went into the narthex area, stopped at the lost and found box, and began looking through the items but did not take anything, according to police.
Court documents said he then approached a pedestal containing holy water, which is “considered an object of veneration and desecrated it by polluting it with urine,” the affidavit said.
The individual confirmed to police that the holy water was contaminated with urine, police said.
Police were able to identify the man as Sokoll through a Pennsylvania Justice Network photo, according to the affidavit.
Court documents said a person at the church told police the doors are typically open to the public until about 3 p.m.
Sokoll was released on $5,000 unsecured bail, according to online court records.

I doubt it.
And livestream it all over the internet! That’s exactly the treatment the perpetrator deserves!
50 years old. He’s not going to ‘outgrow’ the tendency to act out with repulsive, anti-social behaviors.
This only shows one example of what he’s capable of doing.
There was a time when he would have had the crap kicked out of him.
That time needs to come back.

This is going to get interesting because the incumbent DA (who was elevated by statute when his predecessor became PA AG) is facing a strong primary challenger next month.
I’m not Catholic but that sounds totally disgusting. He needs to spend a lot of time behind bars.
