Fannie Mae said Tuesday it fired more than 100 employees for unethical conduct.

“Since my swearing-in, we fired over 100 employees from Fannie Mae who we caught engaging in unethical conduct, including facilitating fraud, against our great company,” William J. Pulte, chair of Fannie Mae’s board of directors, said in a statement.

“Anyone who commits fraud against Fannie Mae does so against the American people,” he added.

In his Tuesday statement, the Pulte said under the Trump administration there would be no room for fraud, mortgage fraud or “any other deceitful act that can jeopardize the safety and soundness of the housing industry.”

Pulte was sworn in on March 14 after being appointed by President Trump.

Fannie Mae CEO Priscilla Almodovar praised the move.

“I would like to thank Director Pulte for his empowering of Fannie Mae to root out unethical conduct, including anyone facilitating fraud,” Almodovar said.

“We hold our employees to the highest standards, and we will continue to do so.”

Further details on the firings were not revealed. However, Pulte did note that the agency reduced 25 percent of staff as ordered by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“We exceeded DOGE’s expectations at U.S. Federal Housing (FHFA), with an over 25 percent reduction in the Agency’s active workforce,” he wrote in a Tuesday afternoon post on the social platform X.

“We’re consolidating divisions to focus on building more homes and strengthening safety and soundness.”

Discovery is the danger. Nobody will charge them criminally or civilly. The risk is too great.

Firing is one thing, but if it’s ‘fraud’ it’s a crime.

How many referrals to the DOJ for prosecution?..................

This department is full of fraud.

Government should not be in real estate.

They should be prosecuted, but most of them will not be prosecuted.

There are too many people who have committed crimes and not enough prosecutors or investigators or time available to deal with them all.

The DOJ is short-staffed after recent purges and the Democrat Senators are not about to approve replacements any time soon. There are enough Republicans at risk for prosecution who do not want the DOJ at full strength for the same reasons that the Democrats do not want that.

The FBI is still unreliable and cannot yet be trusted to investigate Democrats or bureaucrats in the civil service.

It's all about time remaining. There is a limited amount of time to change things before the opposition regroups and resists effectively.

We must settle for firings. Lots of them. Maybe a few of the worst offenders can be prosecuted, convicted, and given lengthy sentences "pour encourager les autres". That is the best we can hope for right now.

Firings are a good first step.

If the crimes were current it will take a while for the statute of limitations to run—so there is plenty of time for future indictments—seven years is my understanding.

I gotta get in on this massive fraud. I just finished my taxes. I went from mid six figures pre kung flu to making “ profit” of about $3000 last year. All the while every corrupt turd has bilked the tax payer for trillions. An I work for scraps. Screw it. Time to ride the government cheese gravy train.

Fannie Mae has been a sewer of corruption since at least the Clinton days. No one scrutinizes it because its a sewer of corruption for Republicans too.

Fannie Mae has been a sewer of corruption

You are correct. Fannie Mae has been a refuge for unemployed Democrat big wigs.
