Over the next decade, advances in artificial intelligence will mean that humans will no longer be needed "for most things" in the world, says Bill Gates.
That's what the Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist told comedian Jimmy Fallon during an interview on NBC's "The Tonight Show" in February. At the moment, expertise remains "rare," Gates explained, pointing to human specialists we still rely on in many fields, including "a great doctor" or "a great teacher."
But "with AI, over the next decade, that will become free, commonplace — great medical advice, great tutoring," Gates said.
In other words, the world is entering a new era of what Gates called "free intelligence" in an interview last month with Harvard University professor and happiness expert Arthur Brooks. The result will be rapid advances in AI-powered technologies that are accessible and touch nearly every aspect of our lives, Gates has said, from improved medicines and diagnoses to widely available AI tutors and virtual assistants.
"It's very profound and even a little bit scary — because it's happening very quickly, and there is no upper bound," Gates told Brooks.

One thing that we will need far fewer of is genocidal billionaire. Perhaps there’s a spot in a deep ocean trench for these reptiles.
Third grader solutions from an automitron does not mean better outcomes. It just means nobody gets sued for screwing up.
Ridiculous.
Same has been said since the beginning of the industrial revolution.
god has spoken....or something. What a maroon.
“....humans won’t be NEEDED (for most things)...”
That’s what Gates really is thinking of and hoping for.
“most things”???
You mean like plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc.?
“The Blue Screen of Death”
Took him 20 years to fix an Exception Handler
Cool. So we can send back all the Indians and Chinese back to their homeland since we won’t need their expertise anymore
There are many futurists with varying opinions of what the future may bring. Gates just gets the headlines because he’s ultra-wealthy and gives money to weird dystopian projects and likes to lecture like-minded weirdos.
I view Bill Gates in the same light I view Soros, Schwab, and the entirety of the Left.
IMO, Gates should be treated as such. A detestable, and despicable person.
So thats why youre so bent on thinning the herd!??
ya shmuck!!
AI is not going to dress wounds or give shots. It won’t show up at a tragic scene and perform triage on injured victims. It won’t charge into a burning building to rescue the kids. AI is a tool. Tools need humans to use them.
A hero to civilization might depopulate Bill Gates.
AI has already saved us from man-made climate change by declaring that it was all a bunch of BS.
It is still GIGO.
Garbage
In
Garbage
Out
If the programmers want a Globull Climate Hoax result, they will get it.
If the programmers want All Whites Are Racist result, they will get it.
If the programmers want The Chicom Communist Totalitarian Organization Is The Best Way To Get Things Done, they will get it. (this last one is in honor of B. Hussein, who never met a communist he did not like).
I would love to see an impartial AI review the Mark Steyn / Globull Hoaxer Michael Mann material. If the AI is truly impartial, it will produce something close to:
Michael Mann = Dipstick
Gates is a Transhumanist bastard. I hope he gets stuck on “The Island of Dr. Moreau”.
I think we will still need human medical practitioners for a lot of stuff, but I bet AI will do an excellent job of diagnostics.
I am a firm believer that most US jobs are paper-pushing. All the workers that were sent home for COVID were basically pushing paper through a computer in one way or another. I say AI can do all of that work in less than 10 years.
Simple logic processing machines and Chat bots are already transformative. They are not “awake” and they do not have “personalities”, but they can do real work. A whole bunch of white collar jobs are going to be taken by AI. Banking, finance, insurance, legal work, etc. We are going to have a very large percentage of our population with nothing to contribute to the national economy. I think the government should be giving some thought as to what we do with people who have a lot of time on their hands and no real way to earn income.
