Macron Calls on EU to Ditch American Weapons as Europe’s Boycott US Movement Grows

In yet another indication of the growing rift between the US and France, Emmanuel Macron, France’s exceedingly unpopular lame-duck president and arguably Europe’s most prominent globalist head of state, has urged EU countries to halt their purchase of American-made weapons and defense equipment in favor of European alternatives.

...

A longtime advocate of direct defense spending toward products made in the European Union, Macron, during an interview over the weekend with several legacy French publications, including Le Parisien, expressed his desire to persuade EU member states who’ve become accustomed to buying US military hardware to switch to continental options.

“My intention is to go and convince European states that have become accustomed to buying American. Those who buy Patriot should be offered the new-generation Franco-Italian SAMP/T. Those who buy the F-35 should be offered the Rafale. That’s the way to increase the rate of production,” Macron said.

Macron’s comments come as European NATO members have become even more dependent on U.S. weapons than ever before.

This month, the Netherlands and Belgium confirmed they would still buy American-made F-35 fighter jets, while Portugal is wobbling about replacing its U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets with more modern F-35s because of “the recent position of the United States, in the context of NATO.”

Macron said he has asked French defense companies to cut red tape and reduce costs to become a more attractive option, Nice-Matin reported.

Trump's handling of Ukraine is costing armament sales to U.S. Defense manufacturers. Trump wanted Europe to spend more on defense, but many of those contracts will now go to European companies for European weapons systems. Europe now considers the U.S. an unreliable partner for defense contracts. No country wants to pay billions for F-35s only to have a president who bricks the software with a kill switch, or refuses to supply needed parts and software upgrades.

How come we don't hear about that potential danger about any high-tech weapons bought from anyone else? Has anyone checked Italy's SAMP/T's for kill switches?

Without Trump’s handling of Ukraine the Yurps would still be sitting back and letting Uncle Sucker pay for everything like they’ve been doing for generations. It actually makes sense if the Yurps are going to finally get serious about providing for their own defense, that they would want a domestic arms industry capable of meeting their military needs.

Okay, throw out their ambassador and his staff. Then freeze ALL French assets in the US and increase all tariffs on French goods 1000%.

I suspect that SOMEONE may be able to notice that we think the French are ungrateful POSs. I can think of no reason to give the a$$holes any more support.

This is a cutting off their nose ritual. They could have ceased weapons purchases from the US years ago but they didn’t. Anyone wonder why?

Actually this may be a blessing. The pro-neverending-war military industrial complex in the US is big and powerful. Losing revenue from overseas sales to Europe (and the consequent tight relationship with the State and Commerce Depts) may help reduce its wealth and power in DC.

Who does this jerk think he is, DeGaulle? With a nutcase like this in charge there, perhaps we should sink their nuke fleet.

Why did the French plant trees along the Champs-Elyses? So the Germans could march in the shade.

I’m fixing to start watching “House of David” via Amazon Prime. I’ll let y’all know how it goes. I’m kinda out of commission right now with a hip and associated right S.I. Joint injury (failed to negotiate multiple trips up my front porch steps with 20 lb loads and yes my hubby is feeling it too).

X-ray to rule anything crazy out yesterday at my local Acute Care (nearly wrote “Acne” there 🤣), a trip my chiropractor and resting with a max strength SalonPas patch. I’ll get a script for stronger lidocaine patch on the morrow it’s in order.

Oh, I’m fine. But I’m an outdoors woman and sitting or lying around makes me yippy. Hubby operated his S38 and S91 yesterday line trimming to keep busy. Very spiffy manicured lot!

I love him so much!

It will take them ages to get to the point of a stealth gen fighter if that is even necessary in Drone warfare age.

By that logic the US Military is also in need of a serious looking at on what works with A.I. Tech just around the corner.

Europe providing for their own defense has been a long time coming.

As far as US defense contractors losing their cut of the European market.

“Oh Well, your gravy train is over.”
