President Donald Trump shopped for a new Tesla on the White House driveway on Tuesday, selecting a shiny red sedan to show his support for Elon Musk ‘s electric vehicle company as it faces blowback because of his work to advance the president’s political agenda and downsize the federal government.
“Wow,” Trump said as he eased his way into the driver’s seat of a Model S. “That’s beautiful.”
Musk got in on the passenger side and joked about “giving the Secret Service a heart attack” as they talked about how to start a vehicle that can reach 60 miles (95 kilometers) per hour in a few seconds.
Trump told reporters that he would write a check for the car, which retails for roughly $80,000, and leave it at the White House so his staff can drive it. The president also said he hopes his purchase will boost Tesla, which is struggling with sagging sales and declining stock prices.
“It’s a great product,” he said. Referring to Musk, Trump said “we have to celebrate him.”
It was the latest — and most unusual — example of how Trump has demonstrated loyalty to Musk, who spent heavily on his comeback campaign last year and has been a key figure in his second administration. Tesla’s stock price increased nearly 4% on Tuesday after dropping almost 48% since Trump took office in January.
The Republican president announced on social media overnight that he was going to buy a new Tesla as “a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American.”
Musk continues to run Tesla — as well as the social media platform X and the rocket manufacturer SpaceX — while also serving as Trump’s adviser.

I suppose that I am confused but I had thought some dufuss judge had kept denying the stock package that Tesla wanted to give Musk to retain him as CEO.
Currently driving a '15 Tacoma which is paid off. Unfortunately, my oldest son is getting ready to turn 16 and he has his eyes on it which means I'm gonna need to get something else.
This would be a cool time to sell them at a low cost. Dems aren’t buying so only conservatives would get the good deals!
He is also a human being and we don’t see the extent of the personal cost he is paying for putting his entire legacy on the line like this. God bless him.
The Tesla was always a very sought after vehicle. I have a tech friend who has one and you couldn’t pry it away from him.
He should get Baron a cyber truck
Take away the cars and the tech Tesla has developed is worth over a trillion. Musk could license the tech in the cars to all the other auto makers and make a fortune. The robotics part of Tesla is worth a mint. Its manufacturing processes are amazing.
Sorry to disappoint the left but Elon Musk is 100 steps ahead of you, StarLink is a world changer, a planet wide distribution platform for media. It’s going to be the platform for all aviation communications and certainly for space communications. Ever hear of StarShield?

The list goes on, but the fact is that Musk is in numerous races, but he is years ahead of his next competitor in almost every circumstance.
A Tesla should be taken to the Moon OR Mars. A new frontier.

Understand, I love Elon and what he’s doing. I’m not a huge fan of Tesla, but I am a huge fan of SpaceX. Having said that, the Cybertruck is butt ugly. It’s only good really for riding on paved roads, and taking it out in the woods and fording streams and things like that, it’s not that good.
I saw a YouTube video where a Cybertruck forded a small river. It did come out the other side.. but as soon as it reached dry ground, it turned into a several thousand-dollar brick with wheels.
Not to mention, if he did by Barron a Cybertruck, or even a regular Tesla car, they’d have to up-armor that thing eight ways from Sunday. You know that whackos and crazies on the Left would be out to try and get Barron.
