The Ukraine cultists are partially responsible for this. They wanted Russia out of Syria at all costs, and were willing to sacrifice Syrian Christians in order to achieve that goal.

Repubs are not off the hook here either. Rubio and McCain were eyeballs deep in it along with a huge swath of the GOP.
And the entire idea started in the end of the Bush administration according to documents on Wikileaks. The embassy emails were discussing how they could easily exploit the large number of religious sects in Syria to create a separatist movement and overthrow Assad.
The CIA won here, they overthrew Assad and their ISIS throat cutters installed an ISIS government. And they rushed it to a finish in December before Trump was sworn in.
This is a deeply shameful chapter in our history.
Not the Jews, but the Israeli government had a hand, as did our DOD and CIA.
There is no escaping the reality that us and Israel both spent years pounding the Syrian Army that was facing the terrorists. Eventually we damaged them enough that they collapsed and ISIS took over.
We and the Israelis bombed Syrian Army, chest bumped the Russians in the air and on the ground as they were solely focused on ISIS. The biggest brag here in the US on social media is that time we had AC-130s kill several hundred Russians for moving on a rebel position.
They never made that same brag about doing anything like that to ISIS.
Israel may think a new Sunni wahabbist headcutter nation next door and the destruction of Christians and significant Christian historical sites and treasures is worth it for some reason I cannot fathom. But it is clear that along with our CIA they did assist in the effort.

I wouldn’t give too much credit to CIA. The Russians were distracted in Ukraine so they couldn’t help Assad in Syria. The Iranians used their proxy - Hezbollah to attack Israel, forcing them to retaliate by taking out Hezbollah’s leadership.
Baloney.... they CREATED, funded and trained this movement. We started them off early with TOW missiles. The CIA lead US DOD force attacked anything threatening our headchoppers.
At least the Israelis can rightfully say they were hurting Hezbollah and Iran (who wound up there in big numbers to counter our Sunni Jihadis) the who were an actual serious threat to Israel.
Our CIA had no excuse.
Bottom line, Timber Sycamore killed 600,000 people, created a new terror state, and launched the flood of millions of refugees into the EU.
All to assist their main goal, their psychotic CIA effort against Russia for the two past decades.
