Simmering anger at the billionaire’s unchecked power spilled out in a remarkable Cabinet Room meeting. The president quickly moved to rein in Mr. Musk.
Cabinet officials generally like the concept of what Elon Musk set out to do — reducing waste, fraud and abuse in government — but have been frustrated by the hacksaw approach to upending the government and the lack of consistent coordination.
Marco Rubio was incensed. Here he was in the Cabinet Room of the White House, the secretary of state, seated beside the president and listening to a litany of attacks from the richest man in the world. Seated diagonally opposite, across the elliptical mahogany table, Elon Musk was letting Mr. Rubio have it, accusing him of failing to slash his staff. You have fired “nobody,” Mr. Musk told Mr. Rubio, then scornfully added that perhaps the only person he had fired was a staff member from Mr. Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.
Mr. Rubio had been privately furious with Mr. Musk for weeks, ever since his team effectively shuttered an entire agency that was supposedly under Mr. Rubio’s control: the United States Agency for International Development.
But, in the extraordinary cabinet meeting on Thursday in front of President Trump and around 20 others — details of which have not been reported before — Mr. Rubio got his grievances off his chest.
Mr. Musk was not being truthful, Mr. Rubio said. What about the more than 1,500 State Department officials who took early retirement in buyouts? Didn’t they count as layoffs? He asked, sarcastically, whether Mr. Musk wanted him to rehire all those people just so he could make a show of firing them again. Then he laid out his detailed plans for reorganizing the State Department.
Mr. Musk was unimpressed.

STONEWALLED BY USAID: USAID is a nightmare for transparency! Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit a few weeks ago about the USAID giving $24 million to Gaza. And they don’t want to tell us exactly who is getting the money!
READ: http://judicialwatch.org/27m-grants-gaz…
Leftist propaganda.
The article goes on to say:
After the argument dragged on for an uncomfortable time, Mr. Trump finally intervened to defend Mr. Rubio as doing a “great job.” Mr. Rubio has a lot to deal with, the president said. He is very busy, he is always traveling and on TV, and he has an agency to run. So everyone just needs to work together.
NYT say no more FAKE NEWS!!!
Dont be so sure. Rubio was a director of one of the CIA slush funds.
Now Rubio and Bondi don’t want to disclose USAID recipients related to Gaza. Musk probably thinks Rubio is tainted
Does anyone believe The Times?
More leftist crap
Who cares what the New York Times writes?
They had a discussion.
Trumped reigned in Musk a bit, because his secretaries are in charge of their departments and they need to have their authority respected. It’s an adjustment that’s all it was.
I heard Trump told them today that this was BS.
Sure...
Leftist crap, not to be taken seriously.

And who was the source? Who actually was privy to this and is going on the record.
Also this reeks of the NYT editorializing the meeting adding their wildly biased characterization.
This is more fantasy than truth as far as how the meeting actually was conducted.
NYSlimes trying to once again create division and a narrative.
This article may or may not be true in it’s entirety, but I have always thought Elon is someone who must be strictly managed and monitored.
He’s doing some great things for the nation with this DOGE mission, but Elon does not seem like a Team Player by nature.
His priorities may differ greatly from President Trump’s. I don’t know how the NYT would even know what the dialog was in that room, unless they have a Mole.
Even IF true, its dudes having a discussion, it happens..geez, put my entire family all in a room together and the screaming ensues LOL
You are probably close to the truth. And Rubio has a long neocon track record. He might be Ok, but he is barely MAGA. And Pam Blondie is over her head.
