First-term Michigan senator assails Trump's policies in Democratic response (Party Damage Control)

The Democratic response to President Donald Trump’sjoint congressional address Tuesday was delivered by a first-term Michigan senator who built an extensive national security background before entering politics less than a decade ago.

Elissa Slotkin gave the Democratic rebuttal to Trump just two months into her tenure in the U.S. Senate, having narrowly defeated Republican Mike Rogers to win an open seat in a presidential battleground state — despite Trump carrying the state. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., praised Slotkin as “nothing short of a rising star in our party” when announcing her selection Thursday.

Slotkin's spoke from Wyandotte, Michigan, a working-class community south of Detroit, as Democrats struggle to settle on a unified message to combat Trump, which was on full display Tuesday night as Trump delivered the longest address to Congress by a president in U.S. history. Some Democratic members held placards in the House chamber with various messages, while scattered boos echoed throughout the speech. The most dramatic moment came when Texas Rep. Al Green was escorted out after heckling the president.

In her rebuttal, Slotkin told Americans that Trump's policies would make them pay “in every part of your life.” Slotkin spoke for a little more than 10 minutes, a far shorter address than Trump’s record-setting speech, which lasted an hour and 40 minutes.

“It’s late,” she began, “so I promise to be a lot shorter than what you just watched.”

Slotkin focused on economic issues amid Trump’s Monday announcement that 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada would begin Tuesday. The move has reignited fears of a North American trade war, which has already shown signs of driving up inflation and stalling growth.

Known for her more moderate politics, Slotkin has not hesitated in the past to critique her party’s messaging when necessary.

“We didn’t do as good a job as we could have at showing what our priorities are,” Slotkin told The Associated Press after the November election. “Our priorities, in my mind, should start with people’s pocketbooks and their kids. And I think the message got muddled for a lot of people, certainly at the national level.”

She immediately lost credibility when she announced she was a former C.I.A. employee given current revelations about this agency. Further, she went on to announce the Democratic Party had nothing to offer but refused to acknowledge their part in the “raping of the American taxpayer”. Her advice was to find a cause, get involved, and protest. You know, the typical C.I.A. approach to stirring up discontent and starting a revolution.

Having worked for the CIA, she's already practiced at the art of deception, and when she looks in the mirror "it's all good".

“Seven Ways from Sunday” Group Select One of Their Own to Deliver State of the Union Rebuttal

March 4, 2025 | Sundance

It doesn’t quite apex the previous selection of Nikki Haley in 2016 to deliver the State of the Union rebuttal targeting then candidate Donald Trump, however it does come close.

The seven ways from Sunday group have this year selected Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin to deliver the State of the Union rebuttal to President Donald Trump.

Slotkin is a CIA operative shifted into congress.

In semi-related news…. Dan Bongino will soon discover for himself, the FBI runs two basic operations as part of their modern mission. Proactive, and Reactive operations.

Essentially the autonomic operational objective of the silo as it is administered. This is the resting compass heading of the organization; it’s functional position in statis.

The ‘proactive mission’ is to defend the interests of the DC system of government. The FBI monitors threats to government interests and takes action based on threats to the framework of DC governance.

The ‘reactive mission’ runs first and foremost through the prism of the ‘proactive’ responsibility. The reactive investigative footing is the full deployment of resources to identify if the event presents the possibility of risk to the DC system.

Example of #2, a terror event is a “reactive” focus. The FBI is reacting to something, investigating some event that has already occurred. Often the reactive investigation runs across the proactive activity, and we discover a “known wolfe” who was not a proactive priority, because the threat was not to DC or Govt., specifically. Another example the NASCAR noose nonsense.

Example of #1the Hunter Biden laptop, Ashley Biden diary, Awan Brothers, Clinton email server etc., these are all considered ‘threats’ to the DC/Govt system, and therefore they gain the full attention of the “Proactive Mission.”

Understanding the FBI is a matter of understanding the priority of the organization is defending the interests of DC/Govt as the primary objective, the Proactive Operation, the standard setting.

The Reactive Operation is considerably less important and encompasses the after-action Homeland Security mission.

The FBI is a sub-silo of the much more significant Parent silo, the CIA.

I'd keep a snippet of this to use in a mid-term campaign... if I was running and wanted to win...
