A duck farm on Long Island has hatched a new generation of chicks — beginning to replace the nearly 100,000 mallards they were forced to kill due to the spread of avian flu.
Crescent Duck Farm in Aquebogue welcomed 3,700 new chicks just over a month after farm operators were forced to cull 99,000 ducks when an outbreak of H1N5 — bird flu — spread across the susceptible flock.
About half of the newborn birds are female — with hens beginning to lay their own eggs at the age of six months.
New York state had sanitized 15,000 eggs from Crescent Duck Farm at an off-site hatchery, though discarded as many as 6,000 which did not have growing embryos, Riverhead Local reported.

Does it boil down to government just being stupid?
************************************
IMHO, it does indeed.
Red alert... We are ‘not’ running out of toilet paper... We are ‘not’ running out of chickens... And we are ‘not’ running out of eggs.
This is fake news which is being promulgated by conspiracy theories’. There are enough eggs and chickens for everyone.
Start with asking if there are any illegal aliens working at the hatchery or the farm. “Migratory Birds” is starting to sound like “Bat Soup” every time I hear it.
The way nature handles problems like this : the survivors pass on the genes which offer resistance. It also evolves the virus as well: you get versions of the Virus that are less fatal. Killing your host keeps the parasite from spreading. They are killing the natural process as well as the Chickens themselves.
I’m guessing Shane didn’t grow up on a farm: “chicks”?
It was ducks, and I think duck farmers with 100+ years of experience know what is best for their operation.
“experts’ strike again
A duckling chick walks into a bar and asks “Have you got any grapes?”
Govt: we have detected bird flu in the area. We are afraid some chickens and ducks may get sick and die
Farmer: Oh my. Sounds serious. What should we do?
Govt: To avoid some getting sick, we should kill them all, just to be sure.
The bartender responds, “Why the long bill?”
Yeah, I think “ducklings” is the word Shane is grappling for.

No human contracted bird flu in the US from these flocks.
The Louisiana case involved a private flock and wild birds. The victim has pre-existing conditions that prevented recovery.
There was no need to cull all these birds except to cause a spike in prices that could be blamed on Trump,
Show me a parking lot without seagulls; a downtown without pigeons; or a field without blackbirds, crows, and wrens. Birds are everywhere. If Bird flu is real, which I don’t think is, it can’t be stopped till everything that flies is dead. Yes, spotted owls, too.
These government nitwits (aka bird disease professionals) want to kill all birds. What loons!
INFO:
MEXICO IS HAVING NO SUCH PROBLEMS—————
DO NOT KNOW ABOUT CANADA
They killed 100k ducks and are spinning a story of 4% of that maybe being replenished (really could only be two percent depending on what the farm was raising the ducks for)... six months from now... as a win.
I don’t think the government is maliciously trying to destroy the poultry farming industry across America, but I do believe they could accidentally create an environment where that end is accomplished through dumb policies and heavy-handed enforcement.
Doesn’t Mexico vaccinate their chickens?
Couldn’t we use broiler eggs again? Obama stopped it in 2011 I think
Wish I had a dollar for every time I drove past Crescent Duck Farm when I lived in nearby South Jamesport from 1972 to 1985 when I moved to Japan .
