Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) said on Monday that he has empathy for the state’s federal workers at risk of losing their jobs as a result of the Trump administration’s efforts to cut down the size of the federal government under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“I understand and I actually have extraordinary empathy for the fact that there are many workers in Virginia today from our federal workforce who are experiencing real concerns,” Youngkin said at a press conference in Northern Virginia highlighting new economic opportunities in the state.
“Listen, we have a federal government that is inefficient and we have an administration that is taking on that challenge of rooting our waste, fraud, and abuse,” he continued.
“I would suggest that our federal workforce is not at fault here but the reality is any CEO who steps into a position where there is an organization that has such deep financial challenges is going to have to make change and therefore I recognize that this change will impact Virginians. We have a lot of federal workers in the commonwealth,” he said.

Walk faster bureaucrats, or you’re going to feel his lips on your arsses.
I would say that 50% of Federal workers I have dealt with in my defense contracting career should be fired. That many are useless.
A bunch of arrogant, anti American do nothings are losing their job? No sympathy here.
I haVe some empathy for them. That doesn’t mean I don’t support them losing their jobs. They need to go, sad but true.
How much “empathy” did he have for civilian workers who were at risk of losing their jobs if they refused to be injected with an experimental “vaccine?”
Look at it this way. They are only firing the “new hires” (MOLES) place there by the Bidenskyyyyy regime. They are the leakers, the spies, the troublemakers. Don’t lose any sleep over them. They’re being well paid by the RATS.
He’s trying to appeal to the Blue and Purple voters.
Right? None of ‘em voted for him.
Many constituants are government employees or contractors. 2025 is an election year in Virginia. Having empathy is fine. I know some good and bad government employees.
I doubt highly Virginia will vote for a republican this November.
Note though that there is a big difference between having empathy and thinking these people should keep their jobs.
Learn to code.
The point needs to be made over and over and over that we are making these cuts to save Social Security and Medicare.
Either we cut the waste now or we cut SS and Medicare later.
Plenty of fossil fuels around.
So many of them are packed into NOVA he has to say this if he runs for statewide office again.
I have no empathy for them IF they have been collecting paycheck (stealing) from the government and us for God knows how long.
Youngkin handled this correctly. I’m sure he will be running for Senate in 2026. He’s been a good ally of President Trump’s throughout the election.
I remember 2009 when Obama wrecked the economy and ramped up all his ‘bring down whitey’ campaign.
I struggle to empathize with these people at all.
Their gravy train jobs were unavailable to me.
When I see and hear the whining and the protests, I want to puke!
