Senate Rejects Rand Paul’s Amendment to Cut $1.5 Trillion
Breitbart ^ | 02/21/2025 | Sean Moran

Posted on 02/21/2025 8:35:01 AM PST by ChicagoConservative27

The Senate rejected an amendment proposed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) that would have cut spending by $1.5 trillion as the chamber considered legislation to secure the border and fulfill other parts of President Donald Trump’s agenda.

The Senate on Friday morning advanced its reconciliation bill which aims to advance Trump’s priorities to secure the southern border, unleash domestic energy production, among other priorities, while leaving Trump’s proposed tax plan for the next bill.

The 47th president had endorsed passing one “big beautiful” bill to pass his legislative agenda. Republicans plan to use budgetary reconciliation, an arcane legislative procedure, to pass his tax, energy, and immigration agenda, which allows Trump and congressional Republicans to bypass the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold.

They’re going to have to make these cuts one way or the other. They will be made eventually and probably the hard way.

More likely than not...a way to get them onboard for the “One Big Beautiful Bill”, opted for by Trump, now in the works at the House...

Don't need a constitutional amendment to follow the Constitution and make the federal gov't stay within its constitutional limits.

Just ABOLISH THE $3+ TRILLION, 80%+ UNCONSTITUTIONAL PORTION OF THE FEDERAL GOV'T STARTING WITH SHUTTERING THE ABOMINABLE AND UTTERLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL "FOURTH BRANCH" - THE ADMINISTRATIVE/REGULATORY STATE!!!!

What’s the current thinking on a possible government shutdown in March?

I’m not sure I like everything congress is doing with the budget, but they seem to be moving forward. I would guess that makes a shutdown less likely?

Do people really think Congress is going to pay down 33 trillion in debt?
—————-
Paying down is possible, paying OFF is mathematically impossible. That said, best to have some patience and see what Trump can do.

That said, Trump’s last term there was talk about renegotiating our debt with the Federal Reserve. Our debt with the US Treasury is not negotiable, but some say bankruptcy or “ reorganization “ is possible with the semi private Federal Reserve.

“ The stockholders in the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks are the PRIVATELY owned banks that fall under the Federal Reserve System. These include all national banks (chartered by the federal government) and those state-chartered banks that wish to join and meet certain requirements. About 38 percent of the nation’s more than 8,000 banks are members of the system, and thus own the Fed banks….”

In any case, senile Joe left one huge mess for Trump. Banking problems, under capitalized financial system, huge $$$1 Trillion interest payments, widespread US Treasury sell offs, etc….Expect the unexpected, just as we are witnessing.
