[Gun]Shot fired at women's volleyball coach who exposed male on team as she preps suit over termination

Readers of The Sacramento Bee's coverage of a rally for legislation pitched as protecting girls, women and parental rights at the California statehouse Friday would have no idea someone shot at the house of the volleyball coach who helped inspire the bills and spoke at the rally, or even that San Jose State University fired her for exposing a male on her women's team.

The Capitol newspaper's omission of the shot fired through Melissa Batie-Smoose's window Monday while she was at home in a virtual meeting with a lawyer, confirmed by local police Thursday, and her unwilling departure from SJSU appears par for the course in mainstream media coverage of the backlash to men competing as women in school sports.

Batie-Smoose is "committed to โ€ฆ pursuing her own legal actions regarding her discriminatory and retaliatory termination" against the taxpayer-funded university, her new counsel, Vernadette Broyles, of the Child and Parental Rights Campaign, who also represented pediatric gender clinic whistleblower Jamie Reed, said in a statement before Friday's rally.

The statement specifies that SJSU "refused to renew her contract on January 31, 2025, not for her coaching performance, but for standing up against what she saw as violations of Title IX." Broyles said at Friday's rally the non-renewal was "inexplicable."

[snip]

Batie-Smoose was virtually meeting with Mountain West players and lead attorney Bill Bock when "I hear this big sound โ€ฆ I look over to the window and I see the bullet hole," she told Fox News. "Police said the shot had to come from the street behind me."

The fact that police are investigating the threat as vandalism โ€“ the weapon was a pellet gun โ€“ is "kind of crazy to me" because it could have harmed her if it hit her, she said.

The left is violent. Trans-GIBLETS are extremely violent. The media is constantly stating that conservatives are violent as if it is a proven fact. It's not true and all the news stories of violent crimes proves that it is the left that commits violence when they don't get their way.

Violent deviants need to be put down. They’re only getting worse. Make vigilantism great again.

Modern windows would not get penetrated by a pellet. Unless the pellet was of the 9mm variety.

I was standing in the living room of our first house, a new build in a nice new community, holding my newborn son in my arms.

The house had a long foyer that opened up to the formal dining room. Past the dining room were two large double arches that lead to the living room. The light from the massive picture windows in the living room lit the entire space.

Crack! Crack, crack!

I ducked for cover at the first pop, wrapping my body around my son. I crawled into the kitchen on 3 limbs, holding him against me, pulled down the phone from the wall, and called 911.

Someone had shot a hole through my double-pane windows.

Turns out the teenagers who lived behind us helped themselves to dad’s pellet rifle without permission and decided to target practice while mom and dad were at work.

Dad came and apologized. My husband was ready to break bones, so I did the talking. When the father found out I was holding my infant son at the time, he was horrified. When he saw the size of the window, he was mentally calculating how much it would cost.

A short time later, the mother, father, and both sons came and apologized. My husband was still ready to break bones; again, I did the talking. The mother was frantic that my baby boy could have been hurt, kept asking if we were okay, and read her kids the riot act. They boys were genuinely contrite after seeing how little my baby was and understanding how badly they could have hurt him.

Thankfully, I had friends who were general contractors who replaced the window at cost. It was a fraction of what the couple thought they would have to pay. They were pleasantly surprised. They paid immediately and we never had another incident with the family.

The gun was confiscated and the family had to pay a city fine. Lesson learned.

That said, I agree there are miscreants who take pleasure in terrorizing others. They need a harder lesson than a fine, an apology, and a few dollars in restitution.

Not true. A .177 pellet from a modern air rifle can penetrate windows.

This is the end result of the left’s lies about a “trans genocide”. For all their bleating about “stochastic terrorism” on January 6 they engage in it themselves. Color me shocked. /s

What a terrible day that must have been ๐Ÿ™ But God held His hand over you and your little sonโœ๏ธ

By the way, I have read your other post about your kids, in the thread about demographic issues, which moved me very much: I would like to wish them and of course, their parents too, a lot of blessings and all the very best in these difficult times๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ€
