The IRS will lay off thousands of probationary workers in the middle of tax season, according to two sources familiar with the agency’s plans, and cuts could come as soon as next week
This comes as the Trump administration intensified sweeping efforts to shrink the size of the federal workforce, by ordering agencies to lay off nearly all probationary employees who had not yet gained civil service protection.

Well I do my part to help, I refuse to file electronically and mail my printed return.
Main reason I do it is that I'm ineligible to use the free online filing services, due to making over 80 grand, and being required to file Sched E & 4562 & D & 8949 & others.

A massive armed task force to go after Ma and Pa, like the couple in Michigan living in a 25 year old travel trailer who sold stuffed beavers, making over $625. last year.
I do the same. I also send it by certified mail because those MF-ers have lost my return at least twice in the past.
“IRS will lay off thousands of probationary workers in the middle of tax season”

Be prepared for that.
Hope nobody here is counting on a tax refund to make ends meet anytime soon.
Short term pain, long term gain.
If you ask for assistance from the IRS when filing your return, make SURE you get their name because I had occasion to speak to 3 different IRS agents the same question and I got three different answers.
Won’t bother me. For many years I’ve adjusted my withholding to ensure I owe a little.
What in the world was the IRS thinking when it hired all those people on parole?
