High egg prices weren’t Biden’s fault. They’re not Trump’s either, but they’re his problem now

The soaring price of eggs has alarmed consumers and the agriculture industry, and practically everyone in Washington is pointing fingers in various directions to direct blame.

It’s hard to lay America’s egg crisis at the feet of any one politician. But agricultural experts say politicians in Washington and around the country can do more to help curtail the highly pathogenic avian influenza, or avian flu, responsible for the deaths of more than 40 million egg-laying birds last year.

Because of short supply, egg prices rose 14% from November to December alone, and they are projected to rise another 20% this year, according to the US Department of Agriculture......

Instead, many politicians have used rising egg prices to turn the opposing party into a punching bag. For example, some Democrats in Congress were quick to criticize President Donald Trump’s chaotic agenda by noting that his actions to dismantle various aspects of the federal government will do nothing to lower the price of eggs. Trump also campaigned on the promise to lower grocery prices for Americans. “When I win, I will immediately bring down prices, starting day one,” he said on the campaign trail.

Last week, pushing back, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said egg prices have continued to surge because “the Biden administration and the Department of Agriculture directed the mass killing of more than 100 million chickens, which has led to a lack of chicken supply in this country, therefore lack of egg supply, which is leading to the shortage.”

That’s not exactly correct. Yes, the highly contagious virus is to blame for the deaths of 130 million birds during the Biden administration since 2022, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.

The author conveniently forgets the egg prices started soaring after Biden shut off the oil spigot causing over $5 a gallon gas, which in turn cause grocery prices, eggs include to also soar.

Insofar as Trump just named a UN “OneHealth” globalist to head his “pandemic” office, it is not clear that any of this will be better in his admin, unfortunately.

It was Biden’s USDA that ordered the destruction of millions of laying hens because of Bird Flu.

Except that there is now a report biden’s egg czar mandated the destruction millions of chickens for a non existant bird flu.

she has been marched out of offices and looks to be facing jail time.

The main cause in the rise of the price of eggs is the government forcing millions of chickens to be killed, supposedly to stop avian influenza.

The problem, of course, is that the natural population of birds is also a carrier, making the effort superfluous. So we get millions of egg laying chickens killed by the government on top of the millions killed by avian flu.

Genius! /s

In order to cut costs, egg production moved to large, centralized locations - when the cost of transportation was lower, relative to today.

With the increase in the cost of transportation - thanks to left-wing-nut promoters of THE GREEN PANIC, egg production at large centralized locations, is now more expensive at the grocery stores.

"Bird flu" piling on.

H5N1 influenza is running through domestic chickens. They’re not dying because the bird flu is killing them. Instead the Department of Agriculture is killing them so the bird flu won’t kill them, leading to almost 140 million birds being culled in the last year. Egg prices high.

Actually it IS Biden’s fault, he ordered the slaughter of MILLIONS of chickens, unless the Dems want Trump to hatch eggs himself there is really nothing he can do..what would I do, give every American 2 laying hens, my nephew’s friend has chickens he doesnt have to go to any store or farm to get eggs, every morning he has delicious organic fresh eggs, my sister takes a whole bunch from them they lay eggs like crazy

I love how the press is now focused on egg prices rather than general inflation. That is the only hook they have to try to get Trump. Biden caused inflation in all categories with his insane spending and regulatory policies.

Yes, and
- Nobody has seen any benefit from putting a miles-wide kill order when one chicken has a sniffle, but it sure does (intentionally?, or !) crush food supply;
- Some states further exacerbate (eggxacerbate) the problem by forcing only cage-free eggs be sold.

The whole piece is CYA for Democrat evil.

High egg prices weren’t Biden’s fault.

Gates and WEF wanted this outcome and were supported by USAID to get it. Of course it's Biden's fault.

I buy pasture-raised eggs. Got them at Natural Grocer for $6.99, which is OK with me. Now they don’t have a single egg on the shelves because price would be so high it would “wreck their reputation for reasonable prices”.

So I go to Trader Joe. Two weeks ago, those eggs were $4.99 and yesterday, $6.99, still in my price range. Trader is a larger company than Natural Grocer and has more buying power.

Meanwhile, Safeway occasionally has those eggs —for $10. And Kroger didn’t have a single egg on the shelf last week. No chicken either. but again, Trader had plenty of my fave boneless, skinless thighs.
