On last week's Clubland Q&A, I remarked en passant that almost everything connected with the Government of the United States turns out to be a racket, and it might be quicker for Elon Musk just to listen the seven things that aren't a racket. And several commenters protested that seven was a gross-overestimate of the non-racket component. After the weekend's revelations, I am inclined to agree with them.
Just as a f'rinstance, USAid funds nine out of ten media outlets in Ukraine, under the guise of supporting "independent journalism".
Hang on. If words mean anything, wouldn't the "independent" media in Ukraine be the tiny percentage that's not bankrolled by a single agency of one foreign government?
Whatever. It certainly hasn't done anything for what remains of the Ukrainian population.

We don’t have enough jail space for all the crooks in and around government. What Hunter was doing is being done by tens of thousands.
I really REALLY hope a lot of these folks go away for most of their lives for the theft they have perpetrated...and I hope enough of America’s eyes are opened that we can keep power for at least the better part for the next generation to rest the country and implement even more safe guards to frustrate things like this happening again.

For example, even people on THIS forum often use the term "gender" instead of "sex" when describing someone's biology.
Other examples:
Using the term "sexual orientation" instead of the accurate "sexual preference" is woke.
Using “Black” instead of “black” is woke”.
Using “Gender affirming surgery” instead of “genital mutilation surgery” is woke.
Using "Undocumented immigrant" instead of "Illegal immigrant" or "Illegal alien" is woke.
Saying that someone was "assigned" a sex (or worse gender) at birth is woke. A person's sex is recorded at birth, not assigned.
Using the term "equity" (equal outcome) instead of "equality" (equal opportunity) is woke.
Affirmative Action = quotas = discrimination = woke.

In our current culture we are LITERALLY going down the drain.
People repeat phrases they have heard others say, totally ignoring what those words are and what they mean. They have a pattern of saying the opposite of what they mean. For example:

I would pay to subscribe to Steyn, if he read his articles. I miss him dearly, he was better that Rush in my book. Rush was the best ever, in the 80’s -2000, but the humor sagged as he aged. I would still listen to the EIB, but I liked Mark Steyn and Walter Williams as sit ins. RIP Rush and WW.
