Mayor Karen Bass just did a humiliating U-turn after public outrage over paying wildfire recovery czar Steve Soboroff a staggering $500,000 for 90 days of work - all funded by mysterious charities.
Bass now claims Soboroff and his deputy Randy Johnson (set to earn $250,000) will work for free.

The one reassuring comment was he said to rebuild ānot reimagine.ā That goes against @GavinNewsom @KarenBassLA plan to āreimagineā Palisades with focus on āequity and sustainabilityā (we know what that means).

I have a feeling the U-turn had more to do with USAID funding being locked up than public outrage.
Don’t they have county commissioners or city councils that have to approve spending like this. I’d bet there are people who are willing to volunteer to put things right.

The contracts will be very bloated with Cali taxpayers getting very little bang for their buck. It's the Cali way, hence the high speed rail project.

That is a good payout. Don’t forget, the goal is to rezone the entire area for apartments and deny re-building permits to anyone trying to restore their private house.
That can be done in 3 months. Regulations have already been issued telling many (former) homeowners that they cannot rebuild on their burned lot and must, instead, build low income housing with multiple units. It they refuse CaCaLand gov’mt will use eminent domain to seize their burned lots at a price fixed by the state. The state will then put up apts using only union labor and owned only by politicos.
They have similarly issued regs to many counties in the state requiring all existing houses to remove all vegetation around their buildings — at their expense. This, in the minds of the MSM singing its praises, is supposed to keep a fire from racing up a hillside at 50mph.
CaCaLand gov’mt deliberately let brush accumulate so that wildfires will rage. They have been doing that for decades. I’m beginning to suspect they limited water and hired illegals to set the fires.
Didn’t think commie trash could do long term planning like that.
