California Attorney General Rob Bonta says he will support former Vice President Kamala Harris if she decides to run for Golden State governor in 2026.
And Bonta, a former state lawmaker who has served as California attorney general since 2021, says he will run for re-election next year rather than launch a gubernatorial campaign, putting to rest speculation about his next political moves.
"Kamala Harris would be a great governor," Bonta said in an interview with Politico.
"I would support her if she ran. I’ve always supported her in everything she’s done. She would be field-clearing," Bonta said as he added that he had not spoken directly with Harris about the 2026 California gubernatorial race.
Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom is term-limited and cannot run for re-election again next year.

California still requires a miracle. Conservatives haven't gotten act together in years :(.
Newsom is gearing up to come out of the wilfire haze and pounce upon any anti-Trump momentum that may gather in the coming months to hit the presidential campaign trail.

The only way she would be “field clearing” is if she went out and picked crops.

LOL, I read this as Kamala will need to get a job clearing fields - because she stinks at real political runs.

This state is already a lost cause mind as well finish it off

Since I don’t live in CA and never will, I would be very happy for Kamela to not only run but win the governorship. It would give the nation a perfect contrast between what the candidate who won the White House in 2024 accomplishes, and what the candidate who didn’t win would never have positively accomplished. I would feel sorry for the people of CA as the sufferers, especially those who wouldn’t have voted for her in 26.

With California’s media, perhaps so.
I’d sure love to see Trump get behind a solid candidate out
here and push him through. The state legislature is also
in need of fumigation, or better yet rodent control.

don't interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake. Bonta is obviously still living in Democrat fantasy land where Harris is competent, the voters are too stupid to realize most of their troubles are caused by the Democrats they voted for (wait a minute - this is true in Kalifornia!) electricity comes from the electricity fairy who gathers it from unicorn farts and rainbows the “green new deal” will save the planet by dropping our standard of living (but not government workers’ standard of living) to about 1920 but with 2024 prices, and the MSM/Democrat party (same thing) still controls the narrative

Bonta may be the only politician in California who is dumber than Kamala. Much like Kamala, he can only speak in platitudes.

Bonta is a first-class moron. Every time he turns around he is pushing unconstitutional garbage.
