Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is already sending shockwaves through the political establishment after gaining access to the Treasury Department’s critical payment system, which processes approximately $5 trillion in annual government disbursements.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent authorized DOGE’s access following the abrupt departure of longtime Treasury official David Lebryk, who had repeatedly blocked Musk’s attempts to gain control.
Lebryk announced his retirement after being placed on administrative leave, marking a significant shift in Treasury operations.
The payment system handles essential government functions, including payments for Social Security and Medicare. Industry experts are now warning that any disruption could trigger widespread economic instability.
However, Musk defended the move on his social media platform, X.
The Tesla CEO revealed that his team had discovered “payment approval officers at Treasury were instructed to always approve payments, even to fraudulent or terrorist groups.”
Musk claimed these officers “literally never denied a payment in their entire career.”
In a farewell letter to Treasury employees, Lebryk emphasized the critical nature of their work:
“The Fiscal Service performs some of the most vital functions in government. Our work may be unknown to most of the public, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t exceptionally important.”
Treasury official Mark Mazur reinforced the system’s traditionally apolitical nature, stating, “This is a mechanical job—they pay Social Security benefits, they pay vendors, whatever.”
“It’s not one where there’s a role for nonmechanical things, at least from the career standpoint. Your whole job is to pay the bills as they’re due,” he added.
Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, warned that “officials associated with Musk may have intended to access these payment systems to illegally withhold payments to any number of programs.”
Wyden later questioned whether granting Musk access was appropriate.
Over the weekend, two senior officials at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) were placed on administrative leave after refusing DOGE access to their systems.
Musk later took to social media, calling USAID “evil” and “a viper’s nest of radical-left Marxists who hate America.”
Excellent. They are terrified.
Arrest every Democrat who received grift...
They sure do squeal when Musk lifts up one tiny corner of the blanket covering their work.
I’d trust Elon lllllooooonnnnnnnggggg before i’d trust any ingrained congress critter or govt bureaucrat.
Smoked out Wyden NY/OR (D)
Yup—when the Democrats squeal you know you are going to find their fingers in the cookie jar if you look long enough and hard enough...
“..Arrest every Democrat who received grift...”
ah....er....well...ah That’d pretty much be ALL of em and probably most, if not all, the RINOs as well.
Bu yearh, arrest em all...they got it coming to em.
Every day in every way, it’s getting better and better.
(You might recognize that slightly jazzed up old affirmation saying.)
I hope they turn over every rock in DC. There’s vipers under all of them. Daylight is a great disinfectant.
Rubio was a Director of IRI which is part of the USAID/NED regime and now he is responsible for USAID
What do you do with that?
This isn’t going to be just Democrats on the grift.
NED was created to do what CIA had been doing covertly for 25 years as per the founder.
Fish/Barrel
DOGE has found one the fulcrum points of the scandalous behavior of the Democratic Party. The next could be the IRS and the Defense Department.
I’m willing to bet they will uncover that about 10% of the payments are fraudulent, each year. Maybe 20%.
My first question would have been “where is the server room and who has the key to the door?”
This isn’t rocket science; it’s simple database stuff. Things like “how many Social Secuity numbers are used more than once for government benefits?”
All Musk needs to do is collect the data and compare it. He will find that the system is based on fraud.
Having the right data then building platforms to analyze it will basically cost nothing in the scheme of things.
This is the battle. This is the hill. This is our Valley Forge moment.
Now we find out that all that Soros Money funding these crazy Judges and Antifa Riots is actually our tax dollars.
The bank account records of all USAID employees need to be seized immediately. Let’s give them an audit similar to what Letitia James did to Trump, but we will have to build more jails to hold them. The money doesn’t really go to transgender advocates in Burma. It goes into crypto or Turkish bank accounts or Menendez gold bars and ends up in the hands and pockets of corrupt officials, thousands of them.
Musk and his talented crew will take good care of the system.
The only way to fix the IRS is with a flat tax with absolutely no deductions and no differentiation between capital gains or anything else. No standard deduction, no house deduction, no charitable deductions, nothing, so everyone feels the pain. Depreciation is 100% when spent. Cash basis on everything.
Charities get taxed on donations, 10%.
Gifts of cash get taxed, 10%
Everything, exactly the same.
Just “gimme 10%.”
Taxes could then be done automatically.
