On Saturday, President Trump hit Canada and Mexico with a hefty 25% tariff on all goods, and, predictably, both countries fired back with their own retaliatory measures. Sure, they felt the need to put on a show of defiance, but let’s be honest—this won’t end well for them.
I’ve noticed social media is flooded with outrage, particularly from Canadians whining about the tariffs and taking shots at Trump and the U.S. However, they fail to see the wider picture. There’s a far simpler path for Canada to end the tariff war, and the answer is right there in Trump’s own executive orders: they need to enhance border security and enforcement. That’s it.
By ramping up their border security protocols, they can prevent trafficking of illicit drugs heading into the United States. It’s literally right there in Trump’s executive order.
But wait, isn’t the drug problem a southern border issue? Yes, but not entirely.
“Canada has played a central role in these challenges, including by failing to devote sufficient attention and resources or meaningfully coordinate with United States law enforcement partners to effectively stem the tide of illicit drugs,” Trump explained.
The challenges at our southern border are foremost in the public consciousness, but our northern border is not exempt from these issues. Criminal networks are implicated in human trafficking and smuggling operations, enabling unvetted illegal migration across our northern border. There is also a growing presence of Mexican cartels operating fentanyl and nitazene synthesis labs in Canada.
[...]
With respect to smuggling of illicit drugs across our northern border, Canada’s Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre recently published a study on the laundering of proceeds of illicit synthetic opioids, which recognized Canada’s heightened domestic production of fentanyl, largely from British Columbia, and its growing footprint

The question shouldn’t be “Why did Trump impose these tariffs?” but rather, “Why won’t Canada enhance border security and target drug cartels operating within their borders?”
If they really don’t want to escalate a trade war, they can end it by taking decisive action, which they should be taking anyway, not for the sake of just U.S. citizens, but Canadian citizens as well.
So, why not do it?
The Laurentian liberals view Canada as a post-nation nation. They do not believe in borders, only that Canada should be an open gateway to the world.
When you are the world’s largest market, the Sellers have very little leverage over you
We can always find other nations to buy from, they have no one else to sell to.
Ask anyone who has done business with Amazon, Walmart, Costco or other mega giant corporation.
You don’t set the terms when you sell to them. They tell you the terms. If the terms are unacceptable they bounce and find someone else to do business with.
This isn’t about trade or tariffs, it’s about FENTANYL, HEROIN, METH and whatever else the Chinese are funneling into the US thru their operatives in Mexico and Canada.
Stop the drugs and the tariffs go away.
Unless, of course, they WANT the drugs passing thru...................
There’s only one reason these countries refuse to secure their borders.

Oh, dear Lord. Exactly the same as our Democrats.
In 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents intercepted about 19 kilograms of fentanyl at the border with Canada - compared with almost 9,600 kilograms at the border with Mexico.
Since when did Canada become a major source for US fentanyl supply???
A great look at what happened to Canada..and it didn’t have to be except for stupid weak thieving liberals:
As if Fidel Trudeau would ever do that.
"There was something in it for me, on my own...I'm smart! Not like everybody says! Like, dumb! I'm smart, and I want respect!"
Canada at its core hates being the North American country that gets overlooked because of the huge country to the south and west (and northeast, if we get Greenland).
It also gives Justin a way to walk out of the PM role with some kind of "I took it to those bleepitybleepbleep MAGA radicals from Trump's Nazi fascist dictatorship, and showed them Canada is something!" stance. Which is the same as Fredo above, of course.
“So, why not do it?”
They will capitulate.
And soon.
Mexico too.

Canada allows a lot of illegals on the terror watchlist to enter America.
RE: In 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents intercepted about 19 kilograms of fentanyl at the border with Canada
1 kilogram of fentanyl has the potential to kill 500,000 people comes from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). You can find more information on their website:

RE: Canada allows a lot of illegals on the terror watchlist to enter America.
No one has answered this question that I have posted previously -— WHY WOULD ILLEGALS WHO HAVE MADE IT TO CANADA WANT TO COME TO THE USA?
Canada has arguably more generous welfare than the USA.
To destroy it.
For a variety of reasons.
I’ve lived with, worked with
and been educated by Canadians.
There has always been an un-written boundary
I’m an American and not Canadian.
Y’all know what that is?
Our original bill of rights.
No other country or society has that.
Because a terror attack in Canada is not the same as a terror attack in the USA. They are terrorists, not Mexicans wanting to hang out at Lowe’s for daily cash jobs
RE: To destroy it.
I thought illegals leave their country in order to find a better life elsewhere. So, there they are in Canada, the land of free healthcare and free education and generous welfare checks. Why not just stay there?
Here’s my other question — Why did Canada allow them to enter? There’s no land border between the South American countries and Canada. They have to come in mostly by air.
