U.S. Sen. Patty Murray is slamming the Trump administration’s order pausing all federal grants and loans as a “brazen and illegal move” that would have devastating consequences for universities, cities, schools and other institutions.

In a news conference at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday morning, Murray said her office has been flooded with panicked calls since news of the order emerged Monday night.

I guess she has been on the Senate welfare payroll for 30 years.

Seattle is nuts.

Our dear DIL is on a federal grant. She’s a sheep expert. So I’m hoping that this won’t impact them immediately or long term.

What did she say about Biden forgiving student loans on at least 3 different occasions, the last couple of which were done AFTER the Supreme Court ruled those actions as unconstitutional?

(Hint: if anything, she gave her full-throated endorsement)

So, as above, sit down and shut up!

So this is what it feels like to have a real President!

It’s been so long I had forgotten.

She is completely clueless that most of what the federal gov’t does is unconstitutional and, thus, illegal and “overreach”.

The pigs are squealing. Trump has struck at Democrat patronage trough. It would be interesting to see what would actually happen if the freeze was maintained for 180 days.

US default would be a bad thing, allegedly.

Trump is doing his perhaps constitutionally unquestionable best to prevent default.

Yellen put a stop on paying many things.

I worked in the Washington state legislature as a committee analyst when she was a state senator.

There was a floor speaker in the committee room to listen in on senate floor debate.

When ever Murray would speak on a bill, some one would crank the volume off. And most staff there were Dem appointees.

Trump administration officials said the order was necessary to ensure all federal funding complies with Trump’s recent executive orders targeting diversity and equity programs, transgender rights and environmental justice.

.................

The full impacts in Washington state were not immediately clear, but the Trump order is sure to ripple through major institutions like the University of Washington, which is among the largest recipients of federal grants.

Those in DC who speak up against Trump’s cancelling federal grants and aid packages are basically admitting that they were in on the looting of those funds. Why else would they not want the system cleaned up? Demonstrably, it certainly isn’t because they care about the people.

Take it to the SCOTUS and demand an immediate injunction or decision.

Congress can appropriate money, but the Executive has the right not to spend it.
