A Mississippi District Attorney proposed new legislation on Wednesday to pay bounty hunters a reward for helping to deport undocumented immigrants.
DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton announced his support for House Bill 1484, authored by state Rep. Justin Keen (R), which would create the Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program.
“We’ve seen firsthand the danger posed by bad actors and violent criminals who enter this country illegally, like the innocent life of Laken Riley,” Keen said in a statement.
“President Trump’s administration has made it clear that deporting illegal immigrants is a priority, and we are proud to do our part here in Mississippi to help support his agenda and protect our citizens.”
Keen and Barton suggested offering a $1,000 reward to registered bounty hunters for each successful deportation they help facilitate, which would be funded by the general assembly and administered by the state treasurer, according to a press release from his office.
“When President Trump took office this week, he immediately recognized the emergency at our borders, rolling out executive orders to combat illegal immigration and cartels. This legislation builds upon that foundation, empowering local leaders and communities to support federal efforts in protecting our citizens,” Barton shared in a statement.
“Legal immigration is a cornerstone of America, and we must ensure that our borders are secure and that the safety of Mississippians comes first.”

What could go wrong?
(Will they be expected to deliver severed paws, like the wolf hunts in Alaska, as proof of catch?)
I like it, we are going back to the days of Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid, and other outlaws of the day who were hunted down by bounty hunters.

Works for me. We have several “professional fisherman” here in eastern Washington, making their living catching Northern Pike Minnow on the Columbia River. The State fish & Game has a bounty on them to remove them from the river so as to keep them from eating all of the salmon and steelhead eggs and fry.
LOLOLOL!!
ear tags? Brilliant idea.
This is the way. Proud of my state today for this one!
No limit. Hunting at night with spotlights is legal.
Good time to start a farm in MS and get it funded. Hire 25 illegals to set it up and get it planted. Turn them in for $1k a pop. Come harvest time, hire 25 illegals to harvest it. Turn them in for $1k a pop. You get $50k on top of what you can sell the harvest for. Win, win, win.
Another way to remove them might be self deportation. Perhaps if $5kUSD were offered to each illegal who surrendered, to be deported. For many of these illegals, $5kUSD would be a small fortune in their home country. The proviso being, if they returned illegally, they would spend the rest of their lives in a prison, helping to build out N. America’s defences, in AK an Northern Canada. (Of course, I mean after Pierre Polievre wins BIG in Canada.)
Of course, ICE and whatever other agencies, could then focus on the really bad azz immigrants, and capture them.
It might well be worth the money, to get a quick exit of many illegals.
Dead? Just as good.
Good idea.
We need to go at this from dozens of different angles.
I would also like to see a bounty for reporting non-profit organizations that aid and abet illegal immigration and immigrants through transportation, shelter etc.
$100 a wetback and we’d have them all rounded up real quick.
We pay people to hunt pythons. This is just another kind of snake. Lock & load, you filthy freeloaders.
Mt Mckinley, Gulf of America, Squaw fish
A great deal. This could be helpful but it must be closely coordinated with ICE. These bond companies would be looking at a lot of liability if they don't do it right.
The best way for this to work would be for ICE to give bond companies target folders with the names and addresses of aliens they are looking for.
The targets would include aliens who never showed up for their hearings (80% to 90%) and aliens who posted bond and never showed up.
The key is that the enforcement must be targeted at removable aliens or this will quickly turn into a shi* show.
Since bond agents have no authority or training to determine immigration status they must relay on ICE for target information. It will also ensure that Trump's priorities for enforcement removals are front and center.
LOL, I'm pretty sure the fed/gov already has that information since they were the ones paying them to do it.
