A Tennessee congressman has proposed amending the Constitution to allow Donald Trump to serve a third term as president.
Rep. Andy Ogles filed a Joint Resolution in Congress this week advancing a change to the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which currently restricts presidents to two terms.
In his resolution, Ogles included several stipulations to the change if it passes, including barring any president being elected to a third consecutive term after serving two in a row.
'And no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice,' the resolution read.
Ogles said in a statement after filing the proposal that he believes Trump will need another eight years to carry out his goal of reshaping America after Joe Biden's presidency.
'President Trump’s decisive leadership stands in stark contrast to the chaos, suffering, and economic decline Americans have endured over the past four years,' he wrote.
'He has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal.

However its good not to have someone parked too long in the same spot. I’m not for tweaking this. Plus theres no way in he11 this will pass a constitutional change. Plus, you always go out on top, with people wanting more. You don’t overstay the welcome, people then say it’d be better if he stopped at 2 terms.
The one guy who overstayed his welcome was the reason for the 2 term limit amendment. Think about it.
I remember that when Obama was first elected there was stuff going around that it was tragic that he would only be able to serve two terms, that they should change the law so he could rule indefinitely. Funny. Of course a few weeks in he got the Nobel Peace Prize. Also funny.

In that case we will need to win every seat open in the 2026 election. And the litmus test is - MAGA!!
It takes 3/4 of states. Republicans control 28 state legislatures (who would vote on any proposed amendment).
That is 59% of states.
So yeah, it’s hard to see it going anywhere.
Anyway, he’ll be 82 by 2028. That’s too old. Better he concentrate of grooming JD, or one of his sons to step into his shoes.

You are missing the point. The third term is being proposed as being applicable only to those Presidents whose first two terms were NOT consecutive. Which is a very rare occurrence.

Also, you don’t change the Constitution for one person - that will have very unintended consequences. Besides, I doubt that DJT wants to run again and serve another 4 years. He’s always said that he can’t do it alone, he needs other like-minded pols plus an active citizenry to back them (and keep them honest.

PERFECT! I’ll vote for that anytime. There are men who stride across history. Trump is one and the savior of this country. Give him 6 full years to carry out the redemption of our republic, then 2 years as a lame duck.
