Costco is apparently digging its heels in when it comes to its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies as other companies are backing away from such initiatives.
The Associated Press (AP) reported on Thursday that the company is “pushing back on a shareholder proposal that urges the wholesale club operator to conduct an evaluation of any business risks posed by its diversity, equity and inclusion practices.”
The report said investors were expected to vote Thursday on the recommendation. According to a proposal submitted by the think tank known as the National Center for Public Policy Research, the company’s DEI initiatives held litigation, reputational, and financial risks.
“But Costco’s board of directors voted unanimously to ask shareholders to reject the motion,” the AP article said, noting their message to shareholders claimed that having a diverse workforce and suppliers has resulted in greater customer satisfaction.

Private company, they can do what they want.
As long as they don’t discriminate against anyone, that is.
I thought those Costco union maggots were going on strike.
Most of their patrons appear to be red in nature. This will go over sort of like a lead balloon. Sam’s will pick up the slack. Good by Costco.
But that's exactly what DEI is.
man do we need a tea party with a dynamic likeable leader who can rally millions of members to boycott companies that foist their socialist woke crap on the nation- woke would go the way of the dodo bird IF we did!
DEI means no white people.
they musta ran out of tampons i n the men’s bathrooms and are afraid to venture out because of it
Great deal on Olive Oil.
I’ll pass on it.
FAFO for Costco.
Boycott anyone?
So they will be hiring by standards other than aptitude, work record, punctuality, training and experience. Competition will get the better employees.

Third area WalMart will have smaller footprint says regional manager.
WHO VOTES ON BOARD OF DIRECTORS ???????
SHAREHOLDERS????
🎯
Just don’t shop there.
How hard is it to make that choice
DEI by definition IS descriminatory.
You talk about a private company. OK, the employees (board members and CEO) are trying to talk the owners (shareholders) into not voting that they do something.
You are confusing board members with owners.
Already canceled my membership, and told them why. They refund your membership fee in full, so every cancelation costs them money.
Fire away and teach them a lesson. DEI is a loser and is dying a well-deserved death.
I used to want a Costco here. I’ll just stick to Sam’s
Cool. They can go broke, then.
TY for the many enlightening threads.
Good for them. As long as my tax dollars aren't funding their folly, and as long as I am not forced to purchase their products, they can DEI until the cows come home.
