President Donald Trump‘s second Oval Office got its big debut Monday, including the return of an Andrew Jackson portrait and the reemergence of the Reagan rug.
The rug, which was in place during Ronald Reagan’s administration and during Trump’s first term, was reinstalled during Trump’s inauguration ceremony, according to CBS News. The Resolute Desk had to be partially disassembled in order to facilitate its return.
The Andrew Jackson portrait has drawn controversy because Jackson, the nation’s seventh president, signed the Indian Removal Act, resulting in the Trail of Tears, and remains a polarizing figure almost 180 years after his death. Trump, however, is a huge fan and has compared himself to Jackson as a man who challenged the political establishment.
Trump is also a fan of Reagan, and some of his most noteworthy slogans, such as “Drain the Swamp” and “Make America Great Again,” were first uttered by The Gipper.

Yes. And President Trump is AWESOME.
FDR: Half the reason government sucks.
I hope it's better than the Jim Trafficant rug
Isn’t there a bust of Winston Churchill too?
The Andrew Jackson portrait has drawn controversy because Jackson, the nation’s seventh president, signed the Indian Removal Act, resulting in the Trail of Tears,
More importantly, he saved the country in the war of 1812, and killed the bank of the united states and we remained free from central bankers until 1912 or so.
Wished he lit the Biden letter on fire since we all know Jill wrote it.
FDR is a religious figure among American progressives and leftists. He was their Moses. They haven’t decided if Obama is their Jesus Christ.
FDR took the fashionable 19th and early 20th century European ideas of socialism, fascism, marxism and central-planning, using printed money and debt - and imposed them on the USA.
We are all still living under the government FDR gave us.
One of the greatest American in. Commie loving traitor out.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
First chuckle of my day especially
since it took me too long to get it.
It’s not often when you get to meet one of your heroes in person. But it does happen.
“The Resolute Desk had to be partially disassembled in order to facilitate its return.” I wonder if they checked for ‘secret compartments’, a la the movie National Treasure?
Yes, the one Obama and Biden removed.
We were fortunate to tour the Oval Office several times during his first term and Trump had two flags behind the desk that had the ribbons from every battle our troops had been involved. Joe had them removed.
Hope it wasn’t the rug that The Bent One and Monica were on.
I hope the Clinton sink has been replaced.
That can’t possibly be real. The SPCA would have a fit if it were.
Kinda. And he made some tragic mistakes. But it’s likely he saved America from a communist takeover, or a Mussolini style takeover.
After the Federal Reserve was created, a raft of WWI progressivism, the lies about the wonderful Russian revolution, and an ungodly wave of immigration from Europe, especially eastern Euro Jews.... anarchy and communism had a solid foothold here. Hollywood was infested.
This gave way to the Business Plot that was looking to use Smedley Butler to lead the Bonus Marchers to depose Roosevelt and install a business junta.
The man named “Col” House who was behind the Wilson administration wrote a book, “Phillip Dru, Administrator”. The theme of the book was that the USA should be run by a benevolent professional bureaucrat acting as a dictator.
Roosevelt knew all of this, America was on it’s knees, and he pretty much decided to feed a little socialism to placate people enough to hopefully stop a Bolshevik revolution here at home.
Roosevelt was sadly wrong about many things, and did things in the New Deal that we will never escape. But he wasn’t some communist trying to destroy the country.
He also protected us from the Brits. He was light years more “America First” than any Democrat today.
Yes, Trump brought it back in his first term.
Trump has the opportunity to be the reverse FDR, dismantling the governmental structure we had prior to 1933. Trump’s first day is an important first step in that direction.
