Benton McClintock, 27, had been running away from his credit card bill for nearly a decade before deciding to pay it off. When McClintock was in college, he began paying for big trips to Milan, Paris, and other getaways with his credit card, and—until his balance had ballooned to $40,000—thought nothing of it.

Some of the banksters might not be very inclined to accept an apology. They’d much prefer a pound of flesh. But even then, there would need to be enough at stake to make it worth their while.

Or if they really want to play dirty, they could forgive the debt, sent you a 1099, and tell you to go talk to the IRS.

My drug dealer doesn’t accept credit cards. He’s funny that way.

The best way to ‘use’ a credit card is to own VISA stock. It gets paid for each transaction.

Credit card debt is not dischargable since GW signed a law making it so. You have to take credit counselling, and pay it back on a schedule. This is not 1999 or earlier anymore.

Too funny! I had an economics teacher in college who said you should max out everything including your house a second third fourth mortgage etc. and then file bankruptcy or die either one live it up!

I never followed his advice thankfully, but have taken advantage of 0% credit cards with no fees which I believe is just smart finance.

I always paid off credit card bills except in a few cases where i was sloppy and didn’t get the bill paid on time. But i can understand how it happens. Accumulated debt is an awful thing.

Yes it is. People still play the cc bankruptcy BS and Chapter 7 it all away, or most of it.

The only debts I ever had were a mortgage and medical bills.

I’ll never understand what other people spend so much money on.

I have a card that pays me back 2%. I use it to buy materials. It saves me a 2.5 hour trip across town to pay in check or cash. That is where I make the real money from the card. I make so much more paying over the phone and working for those 2.5 hours instead of driving.

People that use credit and care about their credit score are as stupid as a hamster running in circles on a carousel.

You ONLY use credit in an investment where it can make you money, or in a life or death medical scenario; but never in a case where it’s a liability with no true return like near all credit card purchases are.

Near all this debt is a testament to people’s stupidity.

And, greedy banks making money off stupid people.

You are very wise. We do the same. All large purchases go on our bank card. Which we immediately pay off when the bill comes. Every year we get cash back based on the purchases. We like buying with cash and not credit, but like charging the large stuff to get the cash back. Debt free for decades and enjoying retirement, while we splurge on the kids and grandkids (who follow our financial advice). Grandkids run their own business schemes and bank their earnings.

I have two 2% back cards. I always pay them off when due.
I staggered the due date so they are 15 days apart. So anything I buy on them doesn’t have to be paid for for at least 45 days.

I disagree, having a great credit score saves you money on all kinds of things, car ins, home ins and more except in certain states which have decided that this is unfair to people with poor scores.

How about bringing back debters’ (sp?) prison? Send them out thisaway in CaCaLAnd, we can put them to work as firefighters when Newscum allows another fire. They can throw themselves on the burning brush.

I use a credit card to buy materials which are paid off before I am charged interest. I have run thru the card limit up to four times in a week before. AT 2% that is over $600 dollars back a week.

It saves me time which makes me money in the long run. And that is where the real savings is for me. Four trips to pay for materials is about 10 hours. In ten hours I can make over $1,000.

So no having a credit card is not stupid. In my case not having a card is the more stupid path.

Maybe I am hopelessly naive, but . . .

Trees are still growing.
The core of our planet is still generating energy.
The sun still does its thing.
